Default help identifying Hyper buggy

I'm looking at a used Hyper 7 and tring to figure out which model it is...the bottom of the chassis has Hyper 7L on it. The deal is the buggy, a new .21 8-port and pipe (53 i think), and a box full of spare arms, springs, etc for $400...good deal or not? My only nitro experience is with planes and all of my cars are electric so I'm feeling kinda vulnerable! thanks!

i would say not a good deal...for that price id just get a new hyper if i were you ...you can buy a new hyper 7pbs rtr with radio and starter box for around 400.....also not alot of need for spare arms on a hyper 7 buggy unless you hit brick walls .....

If the L in hyper 7 L stands for long it is probably a hyper pro with long chassis. They come in various guises depending which country you buy them in. Look for spyder diffs and alloy and carbon bits on it. You could still get a new buggy for that money the hyper 8 pro would not be much more. Think if you really need the spares and make your decision then.

The Hyper 8 is $425+, than I have to add a powerplant. This is $400 including the mill...that's a pretty significant difference. And you don't know how the other guys drive in the buggy class...the spares are good peace of mind. There are pics under the classifieds at dirtoval.com (hyper 7 for sale) and what you described sounds like what i've seen there. As much as I would love a brand spankin new hyper 8 (i've read the thread) that is more cash than i'm willing to drop on something that i'm just "testing the waters" with, especially after having just spent close to a grand on my current toy (xxx-t mf2). Anything with "RTR" on it turns me off as there are the inevitable upgrades to make it race-ready and 9 times out of 10 the radio sucks, and i'm going to use my spektrum on the new buggy anyway. All replies are considered and appreciated!!

ok the deal has been sweetened...the buggy (which is the pro model and according to the seller a former team driver's car...from the pics i've seen it has aluminum and carbon everything), a never mounted hyper .21 8-port with ofna 53 pipe, 2 wings, 3 sets of mounted tires, and a box of spares for $350.

The hypers a good buggy anyway and it sounds a good deal. Have a look round to see if you can pick up an OS RG carb though. The hyper 8 port is a good engine but it is supposed to have carb issues (search the forum). The OS carb sorts these out apparentley. The pipes a good 'un, and the wheels are worth a few $ if they're new.
I've just got a hyper TQ (bought as a kit) with a few choice upgrades and its great. If you're sure its not been mistreated get it, Theres TONS of spares available and more advice than you can shake a stick at.
Let us know if you get it and how you like it.

Well it is done...the buggy is on it's way! Thanks for the tip on the carb as well...I'm going to give the stock carb a chance and if it gives me ANY grief I'll swap it out for the RG carb. Luckily the 3 best engine tuners in the area are local club members and friends of mine so getting it broken in and running right shouldn't be an issue. Problem is it will be another month or so before I get it on the track as my weekends are booked with work and prior commitments <grumble>
