Hey guys,
I just felt as though I had to comment about this engine. I don't see it getting a whole lot of attention, but it's proving itself to be a very good engine. I did have trouble tuning it at first, but I put an O.S. 20E ( I think ) on it and all of my troubles went away. This engine is pretty fast, easily staying competitive at my local track. The bottom is a little week, but only the very bottom. I just run 1.0 springs with aluminum shoes and all is fine.
I "go to" engine used to be an O.S. RG, being the work horse that it is with a good bottom end, but lately; I've been turning to the Hyper for bashing around and practice. This happened a bit back when my son and I drag raced. I was driving my my Mayhem with the SW .26 on it, and he was driving his X-Terminator with the Hyper on it. Both were geared alike, although I had a torque pipe on the .26 and a rev pipe on the .21, and he actually beat me. We were neck and neck out of the hole and at the end of 50 yards, he was starting to walk away from me. I have to admit that the .26 sounds cool and the .21 sounds sedate in comparison, but when the chips were down, the Hyper showed it's real colors.
I'm just wondering how many of these great engines are sitting on a shelf someplace because of the so-so carb that it comes with. It truly is a great and dependable engine. Sort of like an RG Jr. They are so cheap that I just run mine like I want to kill it, then when I do kill it, I'll just get another one.

If you compare it with a "REAL" .21 engine you will be surprised...NO COMPARISON THERE!!!
Plus the .26 is low reving engine compared to the .21.
And also .21 engines are better designed than bigger blocks.
It's like comparing a 3.0L engine with a 2.0L engine. You will find plenty of 2.0L engines that are much more powerful than 3.0L engines and that's because that's what's selling(in Europe at least).Same goes with .21.

What is a "real" .21?
What is a "real" .21?
OS VZB V-Spec T
Novarossi/Top/Rex Plus 5 or Plus 5X (aka P5 or P5X)
RB Concept C5 or C5 BB
These engines are pretty much the best when it comes to 1/8th buggies (aside from the hand modified versions of these engines). The larger displacement engines, such as the Sportwerks .26 are considered outlaw engines because their displacement is too big for sanctioned racing events.
The outlaw engines can put out horsepower numbers to rival the race .21s listed above, but don't typically rev as high. They also make a considerable ammount of torque. This higher torque/lower RPM makes them better suited for use in truggies/monster trucks where torque is needed to spin the larger tires, and less RPM is needed because the big tires provide a longer roll out. For buggies, you want as many RPMs as you can get.

Not always true.
If we compare a force .25 and a good .21, the second will give you more power everywhere.
Now a .30 is a different category!!!!
