questions on filters, what do they do, and how many do u need. i see cars with one for each set of tubing. is this necesary?

yea I was thinking of getting one too, but my fuel tank has a built in filter. so do i need one?

I have one of the stone ones on mine.. Glad I do.. I just pulled mine off to check it and it had a bunch of crap in it.. if I had not had it that would have been in the Engine.

how does debree get into the fuel lines?

Well where we race it is on a dirt track that is wet down alot so you have dirt sticking all over the buggie. I belive that some of that has been knocked into my tank when being refueled during pit stops.

They keep the crud out of the engine. Our little tapered piston/sleeve engines are very sensitive to dust/dirt and can easily be wrecked by very little.

You only need a filter between the tank and the carburetor. Make sure it is on the right direction.

If there is one already on the tank, it's still a good idea to put another one on the line. The one on the tank may or may not be very good, and can't be easily cleaned. Cheap insurance.

A fuel filter avoid stalling when the car is on its roof after crash (it's like a storage of fuel)

Its to prevent mud, and other crap getting in the engine and scoring the piston and liner and wrecking it, alot of people i know have put 2 fuel filters on so they get more run time and when car flips the fuel stays in one and holds more fuel, they get two filters an take the mesh out of one and leave the other with mesh in.

by doing this there will be alot of fuel in the "no" mesh one, so when it tips it holds more fuel and longer fuel lines also helps with filters.

Edit; Even though you tank has a built in one that still no way as good as an external fuel filter, dirt gets in by when your racing you pit guy, or yourself lifts the fuel cap an there will be dirt on the car etc that will fall into the tank, also by doing very tight bends in fuel line is a big no no, as it can split causing dirt etc entering the fuel line, but if you have an extrernal filter it will be stopped by the mesh[8D]

Personally I think running 2 filters on the fuel line is useless. If any particals get by the filter in your tank then by the filter on your lines they they will have a 99% chance of just blowing straight through the engine without causing any harm. These engines are tougher then most people make them out to be... a microscopic piece of debree will more then likley do nothing at all to your engine.

The fuel filter on your pressure line makes sense (which is what you probably see most of the time its not a 2nd filter on the fuel line). The filter on your pressure line will act as a pressure chamber making the pressure to your tank more consistant to give better fuel flow through the fuel lines. I never had a problem with this personally even with a short pressure line but other people seem to.
