Silicone oil viscosities...???
I already have an HPI 50000 on my center diff (on road converted hyper 7) for rally game.
I went and bought a medial pro 100000cps silicone oil but now i'm confused whether i made the right choice.
The one i currently have in (hpi) doesn't really locks the diff.
And i don't want it full lock i just want it a bit thicker.
The thicker oil i could find here it's the medial pro 100000.
What i don't understand it's the "cps" and "wgt".
Hpi doesn't say anything on what it is.
AND i can't tell by just flipping the bottles since they don't have the same volume and the bottles are different.

RE: Silicone oil viscosities...???
Hi,
Viscosities of silicone shock and diff oils differ from every brandname. How much you fill up the diff effects the slip, the tightest should be 100% full. CPS, I don't know but WGt means WEIGHT. If you have different brands of silicone oils, flipping the bottles at same angles and check how fast the air inside moves is one good way to identify. You don't have much choice.
I use full line trinity oil for shocks and kyosho oil for diffs. This makes things easier.
Regards
Joaquim

RE: Silicone oil viscosities...???
this should help you out
http://www.twf8.ws/php/index.php?opt...per&Itemid=175
if the oil is measured in cps it should be a constant viscosity (ie mugen & kyosho oils) if it's weight it will vary as there is no set measurement used (ie associated & losi), there's all different measurements and no one uses the same one. the link above has a table that compares all the brands & lets you compare.

I thought you where not suppose to feel them all the way as you have to leave room for expansion from running and building up heat. I heard if you filed them all the way you would blow your gasket and o-rings. Or am I missing something?
