i will be ordering a hyper 7 tq sport next week, and i was wondering what are some pros and cons of this buggy? anything that needs to be upgraded out of the box, how durable, etc. it will be used for racing and bashing, maybe a little more racing. this will be my first buggy, i'm not new to nitro as i own an mt 2 and a monster gt.

You didn't say if it was the kit or RTR but the buggy is the same either way. Its just the radio on the RTR needs upgrading (and possibly the engine). I got 2 engines for mine, an OS RG for low end and a hyper 8 port for top end, I'd recommend either.
The buggy is very durable but a little heavy. The steering could have a little more throw too. This can be rectified with a dremmel.
As for upgrades if your bashing heavy get CNC chassis braces, CNC knuckles. I put CVDs all round on mine and Ti turnbuckles. Ti isn't important but you will need some turnbuckles instead of the threaded bar that comes with it. Ensure you have a good steering servo and Ni MH receiver pack, and try and buy a decent pipe. The brakes aren't the best so you either want a stronger brake servo or the 4 shoe setup. Oh and a fuel filter.
That can all be had for cheap on ebay but you're probably looking at about $100 in total (not including engines).
If you can't afford it all in one go just do it slowly.
Thats what I did to mine and its almost bulletproof now and pretty fast

well if if you plan on racing the buggy the Hyper 7 will work just fine for intermedite racing, but if you plan on moving up the ranks and racing alittle more seriously getwith somthing like the Jammin X1 RTR, or the Hyper 8 RTR. There both just as easy to deal with as the hyper 7, are just as durable, and much better to race. And when you want to really get serious they both can easily be upgraded into there Full race brothers.

I own both the 7 and the Hyper 8 .... my hyper 7 was about as tricked out as that buggy could get, and was pretty diealed in and hooked up. As sweet as I thought it was - the Hyper 8 just runs the track like a hot knife thru butter in comparison.
To me bashing a Hyper 8 would be like Offroading an F-1 car - but everyones idea of bashing is different.
The Hyper 7 can be made a formidable club level racer - just a lot more money than a Hyper 8 right out of the box

i know about the hyper 8, i'll be getting that later. i decided on the 7 because i just want something to start off with. it'll be mostly for messing around at the truck, because i already have two others to bash which is my mt 2 and monster gt. well monster gt is also more of a race truck now. if i dont get the 7 next week i'll probably get the 8. oh yeah, i'm talking about the kit.
