.21's can compete with it as far as topend, but the torque that this engine makes is insane. I ran mine with a 2006 pipe and it went through the powerband screaming at the max RPM within 10=15 feet in my LST2, so I cant even fathom what it would be like in a buggy. I personally wouldnt bother with the premodded versions if you are going to get really crazy with it, if you were going to get a mod, I would recommend calling up an engine mod company and discussing what you want from the engine and then letting them taylor it to what you want. The only other engine I could see holding a match to this in all areas is the RB 928, its also a very high quality engine ontop of being as powerful.

The only thing that makes the v-spec shine against the 528 is fuel consumption...other than that the 528 will WIN everywhere bottom to top(maybe not the same rpm but it's very close)!!!

I like the OS better only because it has a broader powerband and is smoother, the 528 is a lightswitch, and fuel milege wins races. They are all great, just depends what you like more Ford Or chevy.

Anyone know how the STS 30 (non pull/roto start version) will stack up against the novarossi 528 and RB 928??

all the top of the line motors are awsome, you can't get much more out of them unless you have them modded, there are other motors out there that are awsome and even out of production that are as fast or faster than the 528 and OS. the novarossi 421 B was a monster, and you can find them on ebay for good $. Again in stck trim all these are very close, you would need to drive them all to see where they perform better, some one who loves novarossi is going to tell you the 528 is king and the same for Os, but to me it doesn't matter, i can get more out of either of them in about 2 hours. you also want to reserch where the motor makes it power and how long it pulls for, the OS to me pulls longer than the 528. the 528 ramps up very fast but doesnt pull longer than the Os, on a 150 to 200 FT strait the os is going to overpull the 528 period
