Hm, interesting you say Hobao edition... Let me explain... HoBao make the buggy, and distribute it in Europe and the Orient, as a HoBao Hyper 7. In America, HoBao have a distributor, this is OFNA (they are also Hong Nor's distributor), so where you see a HoBao hyper 7 in europe and an OFNA Hyper 7 in the US, they are the exact same thing, sometimes with minor differences in what is supplied with the RTRs.
So, in simple words, you have a HoBao Hyper 7...do you know what model? PBS, PCM, TQ? There are many, and this will affect whether or not it is a good price. You also don't mention if it has radio etc? I'm assuming not, but again,t his would affect whether it's a good price. I would say that for a basic Hyper 7 rolling chassis, no radio, no engine (a shot engine is non engine as far as I'm concerned! lol!), that seems a bit expensive. As for engines, you have a HUGE choice. It all depends how much you want to spend...do you have a budget in mind?

$849!!!!! [X(] I don't know of any Hyper 7 that ever cost that much RTR, or of any Hyper 7 model that is (or ever was) good enough to justify such a pricetag. There's no way that pricetag is in $US. Maybe it's yen, and they marked it up wrong!
If you have $300 to spend on an engine, that gives you a very wide selection, and which one is recommended will depend largely on what you plan to do. Bash or race? If racing you should look only at .21 size engines, and get the best you can afford, perhaps a Novarossi or an RB of some kind. If you don't plan to race, you could go for something cheaper with a bigger displacement, like an STS engine.
