break pads?

is there a good substitute for breakpads that i can pick up at a hardware store. I am a good distance away from a shop. Gasket material maybe? Thanks guys.

mayhem, i know i can order parts. I just thought this might be quicker and easier then ordering. I am just looking for a good material that would work.

A big improvement over metal disc is fiber disc and when you run them you do not run pads on the calipers. Fiber does not heat up near as easily, they are lighter and are not affected if fuel gets spilled on them.

Fiberglass just like printed circuit boards are made of. You could possibly get some circuit board from RadioShack and etch away the copper and make your own. Not worth the hassle in my opinion but it can be done.

i used some carbon fiber drimmel wheels. It took about 10 min from the start and works much better then the stock brakes! I have a longer play in the breaking power for more precision.

Nice job. I did the same thing on my Jato about 6 months back, because the cheapy traxxas disks would'nt last more than a couple good runs. I Glued 2 disks together dremmeled out the center to shape, and have never had a problem since.
