I say buy one put a Nova head on it and give us a report in about 5 gallons or you can buy better engines for the same price that will BLOW the VG away.
Funny....none of the "Better" motors blow mine away.... [>:]

FoamyVictim If I see you out at B&T we'll have to race and see how they compare. STS 21B to a OS 21VG

I own an OS RG and two STS D21B. The RG is very similar to the VG and took the RG place. Both have about the same bottom end STS might have just a little more and there is no comparison on top end, as the STS will smoke the RG.

Well sure, but when you race you don't have long straight runs. You win the race on the short runs.

I do race 3 weekends out of the month and not only club races but series races as well! Like I all ways say run what works for you. For the same or less money I can have an engine that does both![X(]

I should have been more specific... excess power will not help you beat me at B&T or Foley(both relatively small tracks). The next race is THIS SATURDAY! Come & Get SOME! [>:]

46u , I have seen You post all over the place "well , wait till it has 5 gal. on it and give us a report" , so I ask why do You have such a high curiosity about a motor that You obviously don`t like ?? Or is it that You aren`t going to like it till everyone else says it`s ok to like ?
IDK , just an observation .

So far I have 3 gal. on mine , I will say that the VG will not take the heat as well as the RG , I ran an a-main way too lean a couple sat. ago and it killed alot of my compression . Up until I screwed it up myself mine had unbelievable pinch at 3 gal. BTW , it still runs strong .

I was going to say this, too. You beat me to the punch. 46U, everyone knows you are sponsored by ST Engines, but give it a rest.

I'm in Ft Walton Beach, I live about 10 minutes from B&T. We might be able to get a practice session together Friday afternoon, and even if I can't make it, there's usually people there on Fridays getting ready for the races on Saturday.

Evidently you have not read my post as it explains why I am waiting to see these engines with 5 plus gallons on them. Yes I think OS made a big mistake discontinuing the RG for the VG as if any one knows much about engines know they are similar on the inside. OS took a good ABC engine that came with and air filter discontinued it for and engine with an ABL with out an air filter and went up about $50 on the price. Please read so you understand as I have said it time and time again I am NOT saying these engines are bad just they have not proven them self’s like the RG did and is why I am waiting to see how they hold up. The above statement about heat has to make me wonder![X(]

For the most part I like OS engines and have several of them but are all engines that have proven them self’s.

Any questions what I am talking about now??????????[sm=confused.gif]

One other thing being I own a Savage I keep up with what OS VG 30 owners have to say. I will not go in to detail, as I do not want to up set any one.

Most kits and RTRs these days come with air filters, and universal filters don't always fit, so it makes perfect since they no longer include one. I'm with you, changing the metalurgy could be a bad thing, only time will tell. I'm on gallon 3, and no signs of slowing down.

I wouldn't put anything on typical monster truck owners/bashers, most of the time they don't know what they are doing. We all know how quickly a NOOB can kill a perfectly good nitro motor.

We're there on the 2nd and 4th Saturday every month, so come and play when you can!

I agree to a point other then I race my Savage not near as much as my buggy and I have many friends that have been in the hobby for 10 to 20 plus years that have monster trucks. I all so agree that many can mess up a anvil with a rubber hammer and is why I am trying to get all the input I can on engines with ABL sleeves. This is all I am trying to do and is why I keep asking not trying to start a war just trying to learn and get input. I hope my last post before this one clears up why I ask what I do!

Yes most kits come with air filters but why give you less and charge you more?
Thanks for the input and please keep me posted on your VG 21.

OS (like any company) is in the game to make money. Figure out the rest.
Running a business is not charity and they probably saw a drop in sales or didn't make enough money on the RG.

Whatever the market will bear... same reason a pair of shoes in Beverly Hills can cost $5,000....you wouldn't see that price tag on a pair anywhere in Compton. The hobby market is a funny thing, which is why it changes so signifacantly from year to year.
