RE: Air filter Oil
I know people that use car/motorbike airfilter oil but I wouldn;t use anything else. It needs to be really sticky yet not impede any airflow. Personally I'd just stick to airfilter oil from your LHS. You dont really need that much of it anyway.

RE: Air filter Oil
Yeah, some people use other stuff, but it really isnt worth it considering its a relatively inexpensive thing protecting our engines worth hundereds of dollers.

RE: Air filter Oil
I was out of air filter oil so I went to Autozone and bought some K&N air filter oil for automobile's since my LHS was out. IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE. I toasted the engine due to dirt all in the motor, and I am one that will replace my filters sometimes while I am at the track if it is looking dirty. So I ordered another motor, used the right air filter oil and I have had no problems since. Some do use ATV foam filter oil, but I would stick with the oils for this industry. Just my .02.

RE: Air filter Oil
K&N air filter is for what they call a glaze filter not a foam filter like we run! Any good air filter oil will work as long as it is for foam filter. You can get good oil from motorcycles shops for a whole lot less then what you pay for RC air filter oil and works just as well! Some auto parts stores carry it but make sure it is for FOAM filter.

RE: Air filter Oil
All synthetic motor oils I have ever seen is slick and not sticky like air filter oil. That is only from 35 years experience as a motorcycle mechanic and machinist. What is cheaper the proper oil or a new engine? Yes motorcycle foam filter oil is fine.

RE: Air filter Oil
i use motorcycle foam filter oil, it comes with a cleaner as well for slightly more than my LHS sells a tiny bottle of hobby air filter oil for. I've never had a problem with it & i've been using it for over 2 years on 3 novarossi & 1 RB engine. none of the engines have died due to sucking dust.

RE: Air filter Oil
are you kidding? one my LHS told me to use baby oil because he was out of air filter oil I did it on few of my nitros early on and it worked fine, the inner air filter was always clean and the outer element was the filthy one..... I also experimented with marvel mystery oil and it worked fine as well never had a really filter inner element... HOWEVER I'd only do that in a pinch, just open the purse and buy real oil for the filter..... but if you have a wife watching every penny then ya gotta do what ya gotta do..... put 5.00 less in your real car tank, take that money and buy real air filter oil (not me but I do have friends that do that )

Putoline Action Fluid Foam Filter Oil. Normally for MX bikes but works great on my R/C buggy (Kyosho Inferno MP7.5), I've been using it for just over 2 years and no problemo. Have fun.

RE: Air filter Oil
I use pj 1 foam filter spray for motorcycles, Between mine & my sons cars we have ran through aprox. 20 gallons with no air filter related problems. Just be sure to not over oil the filter & let it sit overnight before you run the engine.
