What can I use to break loc-tite from my engine mount? I've tried boiling it in water and over the stove flame, but that doesn't seem to work.

Usually if you hold a soldering-iron to the screw tip it will weaken the bond enough to break it free.

Unfortunately I don't have a soldering iron and the threads are still inside of the mount.

I used one of these when I had the same trouble. Worked great.

a common lighter works well.......of even better one of those blow torque type lights (they cost like 5 bucks) ..........but thats only a good idea for METAL TO METAL contact

I talked to the Losi techs about this. They recommended just using a CA de-bonder and letting it set for about an hour, so you need to put it on thick or come back and check on it.

That is what I use, I don't know where my buddy got them, but they are torch style cigar lighter, but has a long extension like the ones you buy for candles/BBQ etc

I tried the open flame from the stove yesterday but the thing is that the threads (and loc-tite) are still inside of the mount. I guess I'll hold it under the flame a little longer. Thanks guys.

I have been a motorcycle mechinec and machinist for over 35 years and heat is what Loctite recommends to use. I know many use blue and I have found using purple, which is not as strong as blue, works well and is easier to get loose! I have never had anything come loose using purple on my RC vehicles.

Thanks 46u. I have never seen purple...only red and blue and I've heard never use red unless you never plan on taking it off.

There is even on stronger then red GREEN. Purple is for small fasteners like we use, blue for like ΒΌ inch and up, red bearing retainer and green sleeve retainer or something like that. Yes I never use anything over blue on my RC stuff and then only on things I do not take off often.
