Default truggy and buggy

which would be generally faster: a buggy with an os 21 vzb v spec, or a truggy with an os 28xz truggy engine?

on a rutty track or rough track a truggy. on blue groove, generally, buggy. if I'm drivin, then the truggy because its more forgiving and im not smooth and consistent enough for the buggy.

Yes, on all but the smoothest open tracks, the truggies have taken over. It's a shame, but what can you do. They handle the rough stuff better and they're just as fast, logical really.

a truggy is probably best for a beginner, but how much does the average buggy weigh compared to a truggy? (just curious)

as far as weigh, the truggy only weighs 1-2lbs more. (depending on which truggy to which buggy)

Trugs pros
-Far better on rutty/bumpy tracks
-less prone to traction rolls
-tyres last longer
-bigger

Negatives
-usually more expensive
-break easier (longer arms ect)
-tyres are expensive
-class is still taking off
-parts can be more expensive

Buggy pros
-loads to choose from
-always a big turn out on race day
-easy to work on
-cheaper parts
-a bit more challenging
-faster on smooth tracks
-usually take a battering better than truggies and are more forgiving

Negatives
-a bit more challenging
-inferior on bumpy tracks
-tyres don't last as long
-tyres erode the tracks surface faster
-more fiddly to setup

Both are fun, pending on what condition the track is in Sunday morning I bring both bug and trug along, although I only race 1 class on the day.

the new truggy engine was just delayed, so im now considering the os 21 v-spec in my hellfire. what do you think. how will it keep up with a buggy with that engine? will it be faster than a hellfire with the hpi k4.6HO?

Better top end and comparable low end I would say, I don't think I've ever seen the engines running side by side. The 4.6 is a nice engine, for an HPI, and the V-spec we all know is a great mill. I know I'd want a V-spec rather than the HPI though, that's for sure. What makes engines better/worse is more down to the powerband, and I would suggest the V-specs powerband is more useful than the HPIs. This is mostly guesswork though...

heres a video we shot.... its a Mugen MBX5T with a modified Picco P7 EVO2, and the other is a Mugen MBX5 with a Werks B7 Pro with 2013 pipe...

this should give you an idea what each chassis can do.

EDIT (foxy42): Link fixed.

At the tracks I run at the buggies are still a little faster as the tracks are very technical and buggies still turn sharper and quicker then truggies.

yes the buggies do turn sharper, but with the truggies you have to drift through the turns. (I'm still learning how to get it to slide trough the turns)
