Just got my new buggy (eBay special) and it fires right up idles great but then dies after about 10 sec of running. It will fire right back up with no problems. So far I have changed the glow plug went back to factory setting on the carb and still same results. Not really sure where to go from hear. When you turn the flywheel with your finger its failry difficult so im thinking the compression is still good.

if you can turn it over <compresion> with your finger fairly easy then it means the motor is worn out. sounds like youve been had by the ebay special. but not to worry take it to a local hobby shop to have it checked just in case
if the motor is gone you can pick a brand new one for under 200 bucks

if it runs for 10 sec then dies and you have at factory settings try leaning it out, coulf be flooding out. to chech for flooding run it till it dies, pull the glow plug and turn it upside down, if fuel runs out it's rich. aslo watch the exaust while it's running if it sprays fuel then it's too rich.

never buy off ebay.NEVER.you hear this often "only about 2 gal."lol ya right they ment to say buy my worn out engine so i can get a new[sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=punching.gif] 1!!!

The engine is difficult to turn over by hand so compression is good. I'll check on the flooding tonight. Thanks for the help.

I've only every bought 2 new cars and one was off of ebay! Ebay is a fantastic place to find deals, you just have to be careful. Don't be afraid to ask questions, if it seems iffy, don't bid.

There is loads of good stuff on ebay.
I just can't see buying on ebay and taking you car to your local shop, so they can help Unless you plan on buying lots of stuff. You can't spend all your money on the internet, and then expect your LHS to stay in business, and be there when you need help or a few glow plugs Saturday morning.

As, said above, if you are at the factory settings, trying leaning out a little. Just watch you temps and make sure you have smoke. Most factory settings are VERY rich, as a precaution. Also make sure you fuel is good.

I started it and ket it idle and it ran for about 30 seconds before it died. I pulled the plug and no gas came out. I put the plug back in and it fired right up. I let it idle for about 10 sec and then started giving it gas and it then stalled out. I tried leaning it out with no change. Any ideas on what to do next?

I am going to go on the assumption that the engine is the Onfa Picco .26 and not the standard Onfa .26 engine.

The carburetor on the Onfa Picco .26 has two known flaws.

1. The o-ring on the high-end needle has a bad habit of getting mangled when it’s installed at the factory. So check the condition of the O-ring on the high-end needle and make sure that the hole the needle goes into is also clean. If the o-ring is mangled you will have to get a new one.

2. The other known problem is with the low-end needle itself, older versions of the engine came with a black Low-end needle that had a squared off needle head (see image below). The newer engines come with a silver low-end needle that comes to a point at the end instead of being squared off. If you have the old style low-end needle you will have to contact Ofna and see if they can send you the new style.

You will also want to apply some high temp RTV sealant in-between the Carb and the block, and in-between the back plate and the back of the engine block to help eliminate air leaks.

The high-end needle on my engine is 5 1/4 turns out, I don’t know how many turns out my low-end needle is but see the picture below for an idea of how far it is out.

Firstly I would say that it is just too rich. Leaning out the Hish speed needle (HSN) won't stop it form stalling. You need to lean out the LSN (low speed needle) slightly. You just want to get the thing so when you apply throttle it doesn't die. Turn it 1/12th turn clockwise and try it again. If it works and you get it running (assuming it has already been broken in) start tuning the HSN a little. If not turn the LSN again (you don't want to tune the LSN first toatlly just enough to allow it to pull off without stalling). Once you have acheived this and have tuned the HSN then you can move and tune you LSN for accelleration. you do this by pinching the fuel tube and checking what happens before the engine dies. you want it to run for 3-5 seconds with a slight increase in revs before it dies. more than this and its too rich, less and too lean.

On the subject of ebay
I buy a lot off ebay. Sure some things are not so good but there are also a lot of bargains.
Firstly if i buy a buggy or truck off ebay i throw the engine in a parts box and buuy another for it. Chances are you got the vehicle cheap enough to allow you to do this.
BUT lots of people that get into nitro doen't understand what they are doing and don't have the patience to learn. tehrefore there are loads of almost brand new buggies out there that are sold because the owner is having the same problems you are.
Do some searches on here. Read, read then read some more. Try this new knowledge out on you new buggy/engine then once its all safely stored buy a new engine

If the flywheel turns smoothly but is hard to turn at TDC then its most probably ok

I had to do a little research to find out what motor it is. Its a Ofna Force .26 . I plan on taking it apart and sealing the motor this weekend and i'll take a look at all the o-rings and see if there is any cuts on them. I'll let you know how that goes.

i put a ofna force .26 my hb lightning buggy and i can say you will have tons of fun with it() try leaning it out like the others said (btw it was a ebay motor)

Also check the o-ring on the fuel tank lid. Have had the same problem on a few of my rides.
