Default engine choice?

I just got the ofna hyper 8.5 and want a good engine for it. I wont be doing alot of racing because I usually work on the days the race at the track but I do like to play and the track. I have other buggies that I will bash with so this will not be used for bashing. So just wondering what is a good engine for the track that I could race with if I ever get a race day off of work.

I would look at a Novarossi P5 , O.S. V-spec , Werks B3 , any RB engine , SH .21 Pro , and Trinity .21 Platinum .

I recently installed an OS V Spec .21 in my buggy. Unreal is all I can say. I am also running the OS 2000 header, and OS 2060 tuned pipe. Great combo, moderately priced in comparison to others. I dont have to touch the tune all day. It fires up easily. If 25 guys reply to this thread, you'll get 25 answers. I dont know of any engines that are really bad so to speak. Every engine has its good points and bad points. I have yet to see any bad points for the OS V Spec.

is the rb s7 a good choice. my lhs just got one in the other day and they match tower so I guess around $271 for the engine. It is not the world it is just the s7. what that be a good choice or would the os vspec be a better choice.

Jump on the S7 or the S5....RB matches the S Series with pipes and you really cant go wrong, theres a couple where we run and they really scream for the money...thats your best bang for the buck,

.28's dont belong in buggies ....the only reason the manufacture drops them in there is marketing...targeting toward the weekender....your building a nice buggy with the potential to kik it hard....dont waste your money on a crappy motor....RB is a great choice.

RB, Novarossi, AXE Rossi and the O.S. V-spec are all top engines.
Go-tech and some SH engines such as LRP and Nosram make some slightly cheaper, but still very good alternatives.
Stick with a .21 as most .28s are not as fast generally, and not race legal. Sure some really expensive .28s are fast but then so are the expensive .21's.

that pipe runs well on several different engines and it's a soild performer...one of the wingnuts I run with has an RB S5...he bought last weekend and didnt tell anybody,he does run the motor/pipe combo from RB and let me tell you this...it was a screamer and it's ina Jammin X1-CR...a sorta heavy buggy but none of the less....it was fast...so fast it held it's own against some pretty powerful .21's.....If I wasnt running a CEO Modded P5,...I'd surely give this a second look.

What about the hyper 21 8 port race engine is it any good. I have been thinking about it and I have decided I wont race enough to spend 250 to 300 on an engine so I have been looking in the 150 price range. Is the hyper a good engine or is there others in that price range that would be better.

Its a very good engine for the money. If you only race occasionaly its should be fine, though I would say it is more suited for long tracks than short twisty ones

also what about the os 21 vg is that a pretty good engine.
my local track is kinda tight with lots of turns and jumps right after turns so I need something that gets up quick.
