Hey, i have a hyper 7 and am seriousley thinking of having a reverse in it. At first i was thinking of taking a motor out of an old nikko car and having that reverse, i still have to do all of the planning on that but right now i was wondering if theres a major problem with having it? And mainly is there alread i kit for it? thanks

What exactly are you planning to do? I never heard of a reverse in 1/8 scale buggy. And if you think there is no much space to put other gears and for sure a gearbox.
But if you find something, please PM me, would you?

I don't think there is any room. And if you find room it might make things harder to work on, heavier, and more things to break/replace which means more money in the end.

Yea, i am aware there will be costs but how much may i be talking? (if nothing needs replacing) i have spotted an empty part on my hyper - the left side has a bit of room just depends on how much im gunna need.
And if there no available kits ready for the hyper and i have to custom make it i think i am going to do it on my chinease thing first to see if it will work.

So, heres my plan if i cant get a kit.
On the bsd flying tiger i am going to :
1 install an electric motor
2 install a speed controler
3 set it up with transmiter (need to look into that alot im clueless)
------------------------------
SO the plan is that the motor spins a cog anti clockwise that is attached to the main drive gear making it spin clockwise there for reversing it. Just wondering if the motor will let the cog spin free if im not using the motor so that i can still go forward via the engine.
But this is still in the planning stages and has only been thought about for 1 hour.
comments and thoughts appreciated

It is all possible and I have a plan in my head already, but I still wonder WHY?
The 3 items you really need are :ESC, Motor and 3 channel Radio and going by the noobness of the question I guess you have none of them. But if you want a basic layout plan of how to go about it then PM me for my idea.

Answer to WHY? Because its nice to just reverse when you crash into say a post or any mess you cant get out of with out running to.
And yes i am a noob but id still like to do this. I have a motor that i can take out of a cheap nikko car. As for 3 channel radio, i have 3 channel transmiter

Yeah, that's the way i thought it too but the big problem will be the batteries, you will see. How much money you will spend? I hope you have them from old ones

Sounds like you want an electric 1/8 scale buggy to me. No need to build it it already exists. Otherwise you'll have to hone your driving skills so you don't need reverse. If your doing it just for fun then have at it.

A cheap Nikko motor on only 6V won't move a 8lbs buggy buggy will it?

The best way to do this is to use a drill to start your engine. start it backwards and you got reverse. i accidently did this once, it was fun.

lol bigchris, i once did that, but it kinda did it majorly wrong, because blue smoke started coming out of the air intake!
The only way you could do that IMO, is to mount lots of hardware on the wings, the plastic bits hanging off the side?
If you moved radio tray as far out as possible, there is just enough room to mount a motor, and a few batteries.

You mean you start the engine and the car was going in reverse only? I had an isue with my MP777 few months ago. Hear that, i crash my buggy on a wall (not hard, at about 20 km/h or less and in my surprise, when i was pressing the throttle, the car was moving in reverse but then it magically turn in opposite and was moving normally (front)) I don't know what happen with the gears or with the engine, you see, the car when it did all that it was 50 metres far away. TTO BAD, it was really fun indeed. I don't know what happen, can you tell me why it did that?

nitro engines only have one cylinder and can missfire easily and thats why when it hit the wall it went into reverse (the clutch would have still been engaged and the car would have bounced back turning the engine over backwards), not sure why it changed after that again :S. i once had my car on the start line of a race and when the race started it shot off in reverse [:@] was very funny at the time though
