Because the constant on-off-on-off traction and acceleration of an 8th scale buggy as it bounces along the ground shatters the teeth off the spur gears and renders you £50 down. There is no gain with that setup and it's against BRCA rules if you are intendidng to race.

open two speed don't tend to last long, they get crud in them, and the build quality of the two speeds is questionable at best, not ot mention it will corner like an OX cart without the center diff.

umm da smak, monster trucks take more weight to move and a lot more rotating mass to spin, and more torque to handle then any buggy.. the power of the engine ain't gonna destroy the OWB or clutch or any other part of the two speed.. another negative da smak moment... poor quality parts are the killer of the two speeds...

Are you trying for a rise out of me here? "another negative da smak moment", not a very clever thing to say when we are agreeing that the SPUR GEARS (the only parts I ever mentioned) are of poor quality. I was reasoning with the fellow as to why 2-speed buggies don't last long and you (TTOKS)had to start a flame war.
But if you want to know what causes the damage then it's no secret, CHASSIS FLEX, makes the gears slam against each other in the mesh and they eventually (quite quickly) give out.
You alsoforget that most MT's have a slipper clutch in there to protect the transmission from this problem too. Something the H7 does not.
Next wise crack plz.
