Default Force .28 issues

Not sure if anyone else ever has issues, but the pull start for my force .28 broke today. I was driving it, ran out of gas, and when I went to start it up again, realized that the handle was gone. The starter was always a little funny sometimes...Wouldnt go in all the way after pulling, or after starting the engine would suddenly die and you could hear a bell kind of noise, and the starter would kind of jerk while it was already retracted( hard to explain) or while pulling it would start for second at the end of a pull and then die, you owuld feel a jerk in the pull starter... makes me think the one way bearing or something is screwed up. So I was wondering if just any starter for a similar sized motor would fit ,or if I would have to get another Ofna one( this one was a replacement for the original one which broke).

Well if I were going to stick with the one way bearing set up I would switch to roto start. I use a starter box and would recomend it, but I would't put another pull start on, unless it is a budget issue.

I just ordered a ofna 50633 torque start back plate, Pull handle did the same thing on mine broke while running so I went with the torque plate so I can use my roto start from my mgt on it too, $15 I think from tower, Should be here wed. Ill let you know how it works out.

I would like to stick to pull starts.. They are easy(I dont mind pulling), always available( compared to electronic starting which needs a battery at the ready), and compact. Plus, they are chea; I really dont want to spend money on a starter box or electric start system unless they really are that necessary...

You honestly dont know what you are saying...

I thought the same until I sold my pull-start COLLECTION of left over parts of broken parts on EBAY.

A battery last around 3 to 5 days depending on the abuse. My roto-start works for my 1/8 buggy & on-road car, and also for the HPI Nitro Mini. No more worries about cables, debris (which is one of the main culprits of PS system).

Anyway, its your head-ache not mine!

my pull start broker as well recently. instead of replacing with another p/s i went with the roto start system. should be here any day now!

I never had had a proublem with my Force pull start though..

Theres nothing wrong with pullstarts,you just have to know how to use them.I have a starter box but still use the pullstarts more than I use the box.The box is nice but carrying it all around sucks and thats were pullstarts are nice.Look on ebay there were a few new ones the other day and they were cheap.Look under ofna lx one.Good luck and burn nitro.

The truth is that most pullstarts break due to operator error.

IMO pulling the starter cord too far when starting the engine is the single biggest killer of pullstarters and their internal windup spring.

Then once the cord doesn't wind up all the way you end up melting the cord on the muffler.

BTW the jerk on the pullstarter cord when the motor stalls out and cuts off is normal.....

I have to say, I agree with Paradoxmaker. I have had three diffrent types of engines: all diffrent sizes and I have never broke a pull start. Idk maybe i'm just lucky

%100 true.. The only time I have broken a pull start was with my little 1/16 vehicle. Engine is so small and I can't help but pull it out a little to far.. I think I am on my third one
