A race has been planned at Nadal Sheba for Friday in 2 weeks from now.

Class will be buggy and truggy!!
The final will test the durability of the car and drivers, which is 20 minutes.

BTW, shouldn't we just start a new thread having as titel:

RE: RC Events - Dubai
Gents,
Just got an update concerning the race.
Bad news:
In 2 weeks, its Ramadan, so the race is cancelled.
Good news:
Coming Friday, a race might be organized!!
So, lets hope that this can be held.
Some enthousiasm from the possible participants in this forum will help to convince the organizer [8D]
Will update you guys on this.

Can't guarantee it but i'll try to get to the track tomorrow afternoon for a quickie......
Still haven't driven the new Jammin yet and am dying to give it a go. This will be the last chance for another week at least 'cause I'm taking the family to Fujeirah then. 6 days and 5 nights at Le Meridien Al Aqa....[8D][8D]...know what i mean??

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Just sat here sipping a cold one after a nice "fun" day at the track today. Just thought I'd say a big thanks to DXBMAN and his boys for all the organization, not forgetting all the marshalls . It was good to see everyone out there today, Mister-E, Rocknro (get that dogbone replaced), Gus and everyone else (as well as the spectators!!!).
It was also my chance to get the Jammin on the track, 1st time EVER running actually. Hadn't even fired it up before this race. Big problems with the tune on my motor, but everyone chipped in their expertise and knowledge and got it sorted out, BIG THANKS for that.
Another day of fun and learning.
Some of the lads will probably head down this coming Saturday for a practice bash on the track. Hope to you see there.

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Tommygun I went n bought the dogbones today
It really was a fun day...I don't know how it turned out towards the end due to my early retirement, but in the one quali session I managed to get the 2nd fastest laptime (but my average time wasn't too good since I wasted 1:21 mins fixing the popped tie rod which eventually resulted in me losing the dogbone n retiring).
I thank DXBman for the great event and hope he keeps 'em coming!!
what's the scoop on Ramadan? anyone gonna go to the track for bashing?
Mister-E...I have the feeling the E is for Edward...if it is...please post the pics you got
Keep well all

Yes, it was again a great day at the track.
I was running the truggy and scored the most amount of laps during qualification.
However, during the final I screw up.
The final was supposed to be longer than the actual heat.
So I set up the engine a bit richer, just to prevent overheating.
As a result, no power and runned out of fuel just after 4 minutes mark. [X(]
Too short of a time to catch up.
Well, better luck next time.
Tommygun, how was the car behaving according to you?
For me, I think that Jammin is one of the easiest buggy to drive out there.
This will be my 3rd season with the buggy and still loving it.
Till next weekend then (Friday in the morning, cause afternoon is reserved for the fam.)

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Mister-E...the car was going good, but I'm going to try a few things with the set up. I was actually running it without a rear stabalizer bar, which with my Kyosho on soft big knobby tires worked great, but didn't work at all with the Jammin on the crime fighter bowties. Also going to try a few different combinations of diff and shock oils till i get her nice and dialled in.
I had also kept the mixture nice and rich with my car 'cause the engine is still on it's last break-in mode. I'm toying with putting my other OS (black head) into the jammin' once that's completely broken in.
What diff and shock combos are you running.
Don't know if i can make it Friday, but am aiming for Saturday afternoon though.

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Hi Tommygun,
Just use all the options which come with the kit and work it out from there.
That means, include the front and rear swaybar.
When running without swaybar, that end without it will have more grip.
In this case, your rear will have more grip than the front => understeered car.
To start with, you want to have a car with an understeered character.
Once you got the hang of it, then you would want more steering.
For setup, I would advise the following:
Use the standard springs (medium) on the shocks, put 40WT at the front and 30 at the rear.
The position, just leave it according to the standard setup.
Ride height, set it at arm level (arm front and rear parallel to the ground), cause the track is quite bumpy.
For the differentials, 5000 at the front, 7000 center and 2000 at the rear.
That should be good.

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Hey all,
Lemme start of by saying Ramadan Kareem to all those who are celebrating the Holy Month!
I have noticed in my years of being in Dubai that there are very few forums for us RC nuts, particularly the road going variety, so it is nice to know there are a few threads for us. I contacted the webmaster of dubai*********.org, seems like he is living in Aus now and has little time to update the site.
In my years of being here, I haven't got too into the RC 'scene' cos everyone seems to be nitro nuts or into the cost-heavy aerial stuff! I am a lowly electric guy, and prefer it simply because it is less mess, less fuss and normally cheaper too!
If any of you guys are into scale crawlers, casual electric on-road and the odd off road bash, let me know, I am always keen to have some others to trail with [8D]
I was down at the nad al sheba track last week, I bought a Traxxas Slash just to tool arounnd with, there are 4 of us who all got them, and it is a lot of fun racing them around, in stock form they are just cheap fun. If anyone else has one, we could arrange a friendly race session.
Nice ta meet all of ya!
Andy
