For you brother you may want to get the Xray as you may be able to get parts in a timely manner compared to us Yanks...LOL.
However for us who live in SoCal in the good ol' USA... I would have to go with the Losi 8ight Buggy.
From what I have learned from a little bit of reading... it is all about ability to get parts, how long the company has been around as well as the locality of the company.
Now if you race internationally and are sponsored... well who cares...LOL get what they give you for free. [>:]

Also very important.... who is the distributor! Who do you think will do a better job spreading the merchandise worldwide, and to every hobby shop known to man..!
A. The world wide Horizon mega giant distributor with a mass marketing budget...
or
B. RC America a much smaller operation with a marketing budget of pennies in comparison..
Not to knock RC America... but if Horizon had Xray.... OMG!
Also not sure Xray could keep up with demand anyways... LOL!
I noticed something very funny with the Poll... The Losi selection includes RTR and Kits, that should open that selection up to a much larger consumer base. Hmmmm but Xray is still winning??[X(]
Maybe the Xray really is the most solid buggy of the two.

To my knowledge, none. Then again, don't take my word for it - I don't keep track of companies record's that I don't really, eh.. care for. Actually - LOL I don't keep track of a whole lot

It doesn't matter what event the Xray has won or not (ummm.. but they were the fastest car on the track at the US Nationals though). Its more about how all the club racers are doing with the 808, as they are the ones chiming here. Anyways, the Losi guys are wrenching on their buggys and have no time to post in forums.
Go Losi!

Just messing with you brother... I was seriously looking into the Xray but just found this on RC America:
XRAY has confirmed price increases for all of their products last week. These price changes do not impact the base Euro price structure of the product line, but it does increase the US$ export prices for all products. These changes are the result of poor economic conditions and the weak US$ to Euro exchange rate.
That really sucks for us Americans... howerver the price of the 8ight is coming down. But also what makes me want to buy an 8ight is this:
http://www.losi.com/RaceCenter/News_Results.aspx
Alot of winning records under their belt. I know it is the driver but the machine can make the difference as well
Coming out of Competition paintball... I like winning products and locality of parts and USA customer service.
But that is just me.

Wrenching... man I hate that. I love everything about the Xray but what I just posted and them being out of the states is what worries me. Lack of parts, cost, and customer service.
Man... I live in SoCal so it should be easy to get parts for an 8ight.
But I am still up in the air as what to get....
8ight
MP9
Xray
Still not 100% but I am leaning towards the 8ight.

The MP9 is HOT indeed.. haha. I want one so bad, but I wont get one until that $850 price tag drops to like $700ish. Until then, I'll have a SP2/WC and my 8ight to hold me off till then. But seriously, the MP9 looks sick, haha. You should get one just for the "haha look what I got and you don't" factor.

Xrays at the track I go to usually don't fair well against the 8's and
RC8's but that's in the pro and expert levels which is probably
the best way to see what's what.
Not a bad looking set up though.

around here the xray driver usually wins every race in 1/8 pro buggy. you cant base a car on how other people do with it.

All in all the Xray is a great buggy, however Losi has alot of wins under its belt and at a great price.
I guess to each his own, so pick you posion
