I got a bunch on misc parts for my Hyper 7 off ebay and there was a torsen center diff in there. how tight is the diff supposed to feel when you try to turn the diff cups by hand (i know a starndard diff turns pretty easy)? Also what are you suppoed to lubricate it with? Trying to determine if the diff is good or not, it doesn't look like there is much that can go wrong with it.

Are you sure it is a Torsen and not a Spider?
My old OFNA 9-5 had a Torsen. It had a dust cover, but was not sealed. It used gear grease that was specially designed for this application.
One of my Hypers has a Spider (which has an extra couple of gears - compared to the standard diffs). On this, I use 5000 wt silicon fluid.
What ever you have, clean it and relube it with the proper material. The "feel" should be more or less the same as your other diffs.
Hope this helps.

On the subject of diffs...
Is this considered a locking diff, or a torsion diff? What are these things?

I'm sure it's a torsen, I opened it up and it's a worm and scroll gear diff and not a spider gear sysem. My Hyper cam with a spider stock, I got a bunch a diff parts off ebay for a song and it came with one torsen and one spider diff and 4 normal diffs. I don't race just beat on it till it breaks and then fix it and start over. I think I figured it out though, I was lubing it with grease that was way too thick, I switched to a lighter weight and it works great now.
