Hi, well I recently got a hyper7 and am wondering what diff oil I should put in the front center and rear diffs? I understand that will depend on the track I use it at so here is my question, how do different weight oils affect my buggies handling? I've heard a good setup is 4000 in the front, 10000 in the center, and 1000 in the back, could someone please explain what these different weights do and what more in the front versus the back means? What about the center diff? How does that affect handling?thanks guys

Ok sounds good but could you please explain how to remove the diffs and how I change the oil in them?
What about my other questions? How does thicker oil affect handling in each of the diffs? What's the rule of thumb? Thicker oil for looser surfaces? Please give me an example of a setup for both sand and asphalt which are basically opposites as far is traction and handling is concerned, I want to know this to be able to understand and tweak my own setup.
Thanks

Hi again guys, could I use 10.000 in the center diff rather than 5000?? What are the advantages of using 5000 over 10.000? I thought 10.000 in the center would be better for braking and accelerating, right?
7000 in the front and 2000 in the back sounds good.
What are the stock oils? Thanks

There are many variables to this question about what oil to run but in my experience 10K is way to heavy. Depending what track I run at I run 5K,5k,2k or 5K,7K,2k and some times 7k,7k,2k and this is subject to change for track conditions. I do not even have any 10K. Do you understand how a diff works and the purpose of having them? The thicker the oil the less limited slip you have.

Oh one more thing, exactly how much should I fill the diffs with oil? I had read 80%... is that ok? or should I fill it up 100%?

Do not feel them 100% or they will end up leaking. I fill mind up to about 80% then spin them trying to get all the air out. I let them sit for about an hour and top them up to a little over the cross pins.

Google Xray buggy and truggy setup guide and go to diffs, that will tell you exactly what diffs do and how they effect handling.

It depends upon which kind of center diff you have. If it is a spider diff, I would run 5, 5, 2 or 5, 5, 3. If it is a standard diff, then go with 5, 7, 2-3. If it is a torsen then 5 in front, 2-3 in the rear and leave the center alone.
