The losi box is practical for the 8 but the motors are junk, they're weak and fail regularly not to mention last week the drive belt in the box split in 2!!
Now it's half size and i just hope it will last untill my Ofna truggy box gets here.
A lot of guys use it in my area and it seems to be extremely powerful and reliable.

I hear ya bro .. seriously I feel your pain .. the top losi racers in my area put titan motors in there boxes and are doing well . I started pricing them when I ran into a killer deal on a ofna truggy box . I wasnt sure at first and used an 8ight box for my buggy and ofna truggy box for truggy . anymore and tomorrow will be the first race I use only the truggy box . and yes I have bought a maxamps 14.8v lipo . set-up correctly the ofna truggy box is wonderful and truely is the last&only box you will ever need . yet i will take along my newest losi box for an emergency , or if somebody wants to buy one ..

Plug Cable
PART #: 92572

Although a bit heavier than most, I really like Ofna's starter box 10250 or 10253. I've had model 10253 for nearly 6 years without major incident, only had to replace the worn out rubber starter wheel (@ $12.00) a couple times and the power panel (@ $25.00) once due to operator error ie I let some idiot use my box and he plugged in the 12v jumper cable while connected to my vehicles battery, into the glow plug and instantly fried the power panel. Tip, dont let others use your SB unsupervised.
Another thing I like is the built in and adjustable glow plug ignitor, and should the 12v battery drain down while out in the field, you can connect jumper cables (I made my own jumper cables with banana plugs that plug into the side) to your cars battery and still use it and/or recharge the single 12v motorcycle battery quickly.
Initial set up cost can first seem a bit much, but it more than pays for itself in the long run in less repairs and always reliable.
Its NEVER FAILED me and has plenty of power to start even the tightest most stuburn hipo engines.....
If you dont let others use it, the 12v battery will last for days, weeks, even a month or more depending on how often you use it. However it never fails when Im out with my RC buddies who bought them cheap plastic, dual tiny motor BS SB's, eventually they all almost always end up using mine.

The chrome top box is kinda a pain to get the 8ight setup correctly onto it . The truggy box is a lot eaiser and lighter .

The OFNA 10244 Starter Box uses a two 775 high torque motors and requires two 7.2 volt batteries.
Like I said before, they almost always end up using my chrome top for a bump start.

I also have a chrome top, and the best part about it would probably be the panel/igniter!!!
I dig the power too, though....
My XB8TQ was easier to set up on the box, the 808, much like the losi 8ight, is sort of a pain.

those 770&775 motors are a tight fit in the losi box without modifications to the box itself(lenthen motor mounting bracket) . and the losi belt & pinions dont hold up to even 1 770,I tried it and the pinion was gone in 1 minute and the belt frayed out in the same time . the traxxas titan motors are the best replacement . they are about $30 . and then get new pinions unless you can get the stock losi pinions off w/out ruining them, it can be done yet very difficult(to remove pinions) . I would seriously recommend getting the pain free ofna truggy box .
