sportwerks also
sportwerks also
how so ? with the unique R+P design of the losi i would doubt they would fit anything but a losi...MABY the center if the bearings were the same I.D. but that's about it.

RE: Losi Smart Diff
from what i hear the 8ight was designed with a specific diff that was not holding up to the needs of the competion buggy that was needed. i had a turmoil a while back sold it(for about nothing)and then was told the diffs were the same(all derived from horizon) I never did a side by side. since the 8ights originally designed diff wasnt holding up they began using the same style diff that of what is found in sportwerks buggys. i believe this was all when the 8ight was still on the drawing board. maybe there are modern "designs beyond the earlier styles from horizon that make my theory untrue"

I assume since these come assmbled, you no longer need to tune with different weight oils. Is this a correct assumption? Could it possibly work that well?

If you read my original post http://www.neobuggy.net/modules/news...p?storyid=5240 you would understand my question.

RE: Losi Smart Diff
the amount of lock is controlled by amount of power applied to the diff, so no, they do not use any oil, just grease, got me sold, I was ready to drop 800 bucks for the fioroni diffs that do the same thing, way to go losi.

RE: Losi Smart Diff
only thing is I dont see any one for the rear, I would only assume you can buy the front and throw a rear gear on it, I would want to get away from diff oil service all together, only bummer is now you have a wear point in the diffs, sounds like you'll have to carry around spare ramps and pins, but we'll have to see what kind of wear time you get with these things.

you would'nt want to run them in all 3 diffs....maby center and front....but probably only center from what ive been told.

Yeah that sounds about right, I guess it would be nice to be able to try it and see what difference it makes, but I see the front one to be the most important, followed by center, I could be wrong, but regardless, these are way less expensive than the fioroni option.

RE: Losi Smart Diff
Surely if you ran one in the rear, it would mean as power was apllied (say out of a corner) the rear wheels would spin faster and faster causing it to spin out, so the only thing putting one on the back would do is make it impossible to exit a corner on power?

I agree. I think it would work against you in the rear. I would rather have full lockup in front and center under full power.

RE: Losi Smart Diff
And what about their performances?
Actually, we're talking a lot, but did someone ever try these diffs on the track?
Amain has "back ordered" them since the beginning of the story... Is this a virtual concept only?
Best regards, fred
