Default Need some ideas here!

Got this Losi 8ight T in a trade. The engine has good compression but the problem I am having is that it will not stay on once I put it on the ground. It idles fine when it's on the starter but once I put it down it dies out instantly. I am guessing it might be a clutch issue but I was just wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen. The motor is a OS VZB V-Spec. Anyone have any clue. Already have a new clutch and I am assembling it right now. Thanks in advanced for any help.

Were the wheels turning when it idles on the starter box and does it die if you apply the brakes? If "yes", it definitely sounds like a clutch issue.

You have to check the carb throat when full break is applied. If the idle screw is not properly set it will die everytime you hit the breaks because the slide is closing the opening. You should have a 1-1.5mm gap at full brake. Could also be an air leak. Does your drive train turn freely?

check you clutch bearings, and shoes. File down any burrs on the shoes and try again. It could also be the clutch springs, they could be worn out.
