I am trying to find an new engine for my sportwerks mayhem buggy. What do you think is the fastest and cheapest engine for a buggy.

axial .28 spec 1s...prolly find one for $80 on ebay.

Thats an awesome UPGRADE motor from your stock... especially for 100 bucks. GREAT motor, A friend has one in his savage 4.6.

Axial would Not be a very economical motor to run in buggy....they Suck the fuel like no tomorrow...have Way too much low end power for buggy....and FWIW you could do much better.....axial

I have run several Axial mills. from the .28rr and the .32 and they work OK with a good tune.

Has anyone ran the hyper .21 with boost engine. I've been looking at them and they're pretty dang affordable. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with it? Like is it reliable and is it fairly easy to tune and does it hold it's tune?

go r-spec .21 is 170.00 makes a great buggy engine,

Well GO has a sport motor for like 124, would still be better then the axial

Hyper .21 i think is very underrated I've seen a few of these engines run and my buddy owns one, it impresses me every time i see it run

With a Jp-2 this engine pushes a 10 pound truggy with no probs

XTM 457's like to eat rods due to crank walk...been there done that.....and XTM neglects to admit its an issue....for the $$ you could do much better.....heck for 200$ you could have a race .21

Well I googled the hyper .21 8 port w/boost, and I found it for $125. I'm about to buy a hyper 7 and I was thinking about buying the .21 w/boost and mounting it on the hyper 7 and putting the stock .21 on my 1/10 stadium truck. $125 is a pretty good price IMO if it's got the power I think it does. However I don't fully understand how the "boost" works. I noticed in the pictures it has what looks to be a fuel line of some sort running from the back of the engine to the carb. To me it almost seems like it's supposed to work like a turbo of some sort, possibly using the back pressure from the exhaust. I don't know, ofna doesn't give too much of a description.

another 100$ and you can have a 100% Race ready motor that will make a hyper .21 look like its standing still.

Buy Big buy once....a RTR sport motor like that will not last as long as something with a little more value to it.

Like what kind of race engine do you suggest INTEGRA?

Your statement is redundant as I have and many of my customers have 457 pro XTM engines that don't
seem to have that problem. Plus the guy ask for the fastest and cheapest engine [&o]

IMHO, whether for buggy, truggy, MT, and even for racing any of the above, there is no better engine for somebody on a budget than the Mach 427....

With luck you can find one for not too much more than $100..

I have run the Axial .28 1s in my back up buggy and have nothing but good things to say. It all depends on the track you race. If you run 15min mains everyone has to pit so the mileage problem won't hurt as bad. I get about 8 minutes from mine and I don't run a carb restrictor.

I have also owned a Hyper .21 8 port (older model) and I can say is Axial will perform better. The Sportwerks .26 engine has more top end and can be had for a little more than $100.00
Never owned one but I can tell you they make great power for a budget mill.

You may want to consider this Nova Rossi engine as well. You would have to ask around as I have not owned this particular model but there race engines are top notch.

I think that is a great motor for the price and performance. I used to run them alot with no problems. Hell I even still have one to mess around with. Been pinched 3 times, ported etc and still has the original rod in it! Probably has 15 gallons or so on it lol! Did not know they were so cheap now! Might get another as a practice motor lol! This motor is super easy to tune and holds a tune very will IMO for someone not looking to become a tuning genious and messing with it all the time. Fuel mileage ain't that great but the power is very good. (FOR THE PRICE).

Wow INTEGRA, you sure are perfect. Whatever you says goes and is the absolute perfect thing.

For the money, I would definitely get the SH 8-Port engine or the XTM 457 6-Port engine. I love SH engines and both are SH engines (or Golden Lion if you dig deep enough).

You can pick either one right now for $99.95. Their usually double that.

BTW, I have a XTM 457 and I am on my way to 10 gallons with the same piston, rod, and sleeve and it still idles perfectly, and is still faster than fast!

that sh21 looks good for the money,its ok saying for a $100 more you can have a jpx21 integra,but..maybe he dont have the extra 100. help the man out dont offer useless information that he MAYBE cant afford. for instance picco p7r motors are very expensive in england and so are out of the question now. crap exchange rates and all that

If you cant afford a 200$ motor.....i dont think Rc is the hobby for you....its expensive...plain and simple....you get what you pay for and there's nothing more to it.....a cheep motor will yield cheap results....you want something decent...you have to pay for it.....and he's lucky the JPX is as cheep as it is.....it IS one of THE most powerful motor's on the market NO 2 ways about it.

some people are on a budget integra thats the way it is, why not try and suggest some DECENT sport motors that you have run instead of your blinkered buy a jpx21 bo**ocks that you spout at everybody on this site. i agree an axial spec 1 is a terrible idea but a mach427 is good,as is a good ole picco 21 basic great budget engine.supertib is from the same part of the world as you i believe?he has become a contributer of good information lately, maybe you should use your(admittedly)wealth of knowledge to help people. happy days......
