Converting a buggy to an MT?

Hey guys. I just bash with my buggy, and I think i would have a lot more fun if i changed a few things on it to make it like an MT.
The center diff is ok for racing, but i think for bashing it would be more fun to have both axles pulling the same. I think locking the center diff and putting some M/T sized tires and wheels on it would make it a lot more fun to drive for me. Gearing seems low enough for MT size tires. Has anyone locked the center diff, or ran really thick fluid with good results? Do they make really thick fluid that would keep it almost locked in the center without having to use JB weld or something irreversible?
Would ofna Monster Pirate wheels and tires work on a buggy with the stock A-arms? They have a lot of offset to them. I thought about selling my buggy and trying to find a pirate, but my buggy is in real nice shape, so i wouldnt mind to just keep it.
I like my buggy, but i may end up selling it for another MT. Honestly, What I would like to have is something just like my buggy with a solid center differential, and bigger MT sized tires.
I just bought some new tires and rims for my buggy, so i'll see what i think of it with those on it before i start changing things, but maybe this summer, ill do a conversion to an MT if im not completely happy with it.
I know most of you will think im crazy, but i like modifying things, and it wouldnt be anything that couldnt be undone. I think it would be a heck of a fun basher set up like this for someone who likes MT's. Should handle good, and be plenty fast with plenty of torque, and be really durable.

Alright, i took some pictures of it on my old t-maxx wheels. The offset on them is nothing compared to Ofna monster pirate wheels and tires, which is what i would most likely be running. Several of the pictures, I set the tires out about how i figured the stance would be on it. I think it would work great with some savage body mounts and a nice savage body with a locked center diff, and MP tires and wheels
Me and my ideas.
The last picture shows there is plenty of steering clearence, and that is with the maxx wheels all the way on and not set out with an offset like the Pirate wheels would. Im wishing i hadnt of bought those new buggy wheels and tires now. Anyone want to buy a set?

For the T-maxx wheels i would have. I made my own adapters, and tried it for about 1/4 tank and realized i didnt want to burn up my clutch. Gearing was entirely too high. So i did the smart thing and traded the buggy to another MT[8D]

From what I remember, the Monster Pirate wasn't far from a HODR. Not sure how the spur would work with the newer Ofna center diff. I'm sure if those big wheels were kept on without gearing down, you would be cooking the clutch in no time.

You already have 17mm hubs, so find some wheels with 17mm hubs and a lot of offset to compensate for the shorter a-arms of a buggy, and they should fit right on. Thats why i was going to use monster pirate wheels. 17mm hubs, and lots of backspacing.

Well, if you were just going to be bashing, and from you videos, going WOT for minutes at a time, of course you arent going to like the buggy. You really should of made a track to see what it was capable of. What about a truggy?

MT's are MUCH more fun for me. They wheelie, they do donuts, they jump awesome, they go great in grass, and they do great on hills, mud, rocks, and whatever else you can find. A buggy needs a groomed surface to run its best. My buggy was a blast in smooth loose dirt, but I have much more grass and rutted dirt than anything, and the buggy is not well suited for that.
Why have 2 MT's? Well, both of them are different. They both handle much different, they are made completely different, and the drivetrain setups are much different. When one is down, I still have another MT to drive. Its no fun to run a buggy in the grass when your buddys are running MT's.
How could you possibly consider an MT a toy? You dont bash, so you obviously dont know where im coming from in my views. Why would i have traded the buggy for another MT if i thought the buggy was going to be much more fun and durable? If i had plans to race, I would have kept the buggy, but i dont.
A buggy has its place, and its at the track. I had a lot of fun with mine on small dirt jumps, and in loose dirt, but the MT makes more sense for where i normally run, and it is more fun for me to drive so i traded. Im not sure why you are bothered by it?

My session timed out, so here is a summary of what I said.
I dont like doing wheelies/donuts as I never run in the street besdies breakin.

It sounds to me like those guys were bashers that didnt know what they were going to be running against then. Its not too hard to make an r/c hold up on a track if you can drive it. My guess is they werent too good of driver/jumpers if they broke that fast. I dont race. I have nothing against buggies, but i just dont race, and it makes more sense for me to have an MT to go out and bash.
Now, I may try a truggy one day, since it will run much better in a lot of the places that i run than the buggy does having bigger tires and all. I loved the durability and simplicity of my buggy. But that being said, I havent broken either one of my MT's and dont really do any jumping, so im not real hard on them as far as jumping is concerned.
I may try a truggy one day if i run up on a trade for one, but im in no hurry since im perfectly happy with my MT's.
