Default Power source on the field?

I have a new engine for my buggy and I live in an area where I don't feel comfortable breaking in an engine due to neighbours that won't like the noise. My only problem is I need to preheat the engine todo a proper break in. What I would like to know is what alternate power sources are there that I can use with myself, my truck and an open parking lot or field to power the heatgun. I have a heat gun that is 1200 watts, 120 volt. Thanks for sharing any tips you guys might have.

In addition, I am looking for affordable ways besides using a generator, if there is any. Thanks.

I have had similar issues and there are 2 options for you. First and cheapest is to get a travel blow dryer wit a car lighter plug. I used my ladies for a while but it crapped out and I had to by her a new one. Only about 25 bucks. Other then that you can get an ac/dc converter at target or k mart etc. which will allow you to plug any home appliance into the cigarette lighter of the car through an adapter. They usually run about 50-100 bucks and have alot more uses then just this. For example charging your batteries without opening the hood. I would go with the latter.

just buy a 12v power inverter. they convert the 12v dc power from your cigarette lighter to 120v ac. they cost anywhere from $20-$200, but all you need is the 200w/120v style. you might find one at WalMart for $25

Using a normal hair dryer with a power inverter might work ok, but I tried my heat gun on a with a Black and Decker inverter and it would just trip the breaker. In order to use a real heat gun, you gotta have a somewhat beefy inverter which translates to more expensive...

Just wondering how a 200w/120v inverter will handle a 1200w heatgun?

Lmao, I was thinking that too.....

I think the strain from a heat-gun would blow your fuses left and right not matter the inverter you use.....blow-dryer may be the way to go.

What about using a torch? I personally think using an open flame is a bad idea but its cheap and portable lol.

some office buildings and grocery stores have putside power outlets, find one in your area and use a heavy duty extension cord.

Sounds barbaric but thats what I use when I 'm away from home, a soft flame tipped propane torch.
Just amke sure you keep the flame moving and don't run over any plastic or rubber.

i live in some ghetto apartment in this crappy little town... lived here for about a year and would always take my new motors to the LHS track to break em in... about 3 months ago some real *****s moved in up above me and they like to make TONS on noise at about 2 am every single night... (back from the bar, fat chick and crippled guy sex really is disturbing). now i just break in my motors on my back porch at 8am lmao

nothing better then the smell of break in when its annoying the **** out of the scrubs who live above me!
