RE: cleaning my diff's
When i take my diffs apart I place all the pieces (minus the rubber seals) into an old tin (like a coffee tin). The I spray a carb cleaner into it and let all the parts soak for about 1/2 hour. Take them all out and wipe them off with a clean rag and put the diffs back together.
Fill the diffs 80% full with the oil of your choice and seal them back up. Don't forget to put the little grub screw back before filling the diff with oil. And I recommend replacing your gaskets at this point as well.
Good luck

Cost to much and if you leave a tiny little bit in there you"ll end up burning your engine, or a foamy exhaust.
I'm forever blowing bubbles, lovely bubbles every where. Nice song.

VM&P Naphtha, a Tea ball and a mason jar. Naphtha is the only solvent that
I have ever found really cuts through silicone based oils. You can find it at
any hardware store. The Tea Strainer should be avalible at any Grocery
store.
Amain has a way over priced one from GMK but it gives you an idea of
what your looking for.

Thanks to Integra for showing me this solvent and cleaning method, once you do it this way
you will never go back to any other solvents.

Thanks for that tip JsK, think I'll give that one a go next time round.
Oh and datsun....whichever cleaner you use....don't try to soak your parts in a styrofoam cup...I've actually made that mistake...once

RE: cleaning my diff's
Just put the parts in a cup of petrol over night and wash off in the morning, good as new. And cheap, now hassles. Break cleaning fluit is also very good for cleaning parts.[8D]

Electrical contact cleaner is the best. But some of that can be harmful to plastic also just need to check the labels. CRC CO contact cleaner is the stuff to use.

RE: cleaning my diff's
I have used:
Ace Hardware brand "Citrus Degreaser"
Pennzoil Gumout "Steam Premium"
Gold Eagle "Carburetor & Choke Cleaner"
Don't know about the ingredients, but none of those damaged the plastic diff cup. Obviously, I don't clean the O-rings with these.
