Kit or RTR
Hi, im looking into buying a Kyosho inferno mp7.5 sports but im not sure whether to get a kit or the RTR. What are the advantages of each in terms of performance, speed etc. also, how fiddley are kits to build. Are there any other buggies which are better for a similar price to the kyosho? Im lookin for sumthin with good speed that can take a bruising.
Cheers |
RE: Kit or RTR
Hi, I prefer to build kits and tailor them to my taste, but this may not be viable for a beginner. There are a lot of guys here talking up OFNAs and the GS Storm. I don't personally think that the Inferno RTR is the best RTR out there, now if we are talking kits, then thats a different story......

RE: Kit or RTR
Yeh i was really looking for a buggy rather than a truck though. so is the kit better than the rtr? what other buggies are better then?
|
RE: Kit or RTR
Sit back and watch, this time tomorrow you'll probably have at least 10 different opinions and at least two arguments in ths thread.

RE: Kit or RTR
Lol, thanx. well all the stuff bout the inferno winning those comps sounds promising, and ive seen a video, looks gd to me. but i'll wait to hear any suggestions.
Thanks |
RE: Kit or RTR
I'll start, buy a Kanai 3 a Rex P-5 and an Airtronics M8. Buy that and you'll be hangin' with the hardcore, brother.

RE: Kit or RTR
Cheers. But that whacks up a hell of a cost. what wld u say is better speed and performance and better value for money, the inferno mp 7.5, the hyper 7 or the ofna 9.5 buggy?
I really want a decent buddy but i dont really wanna spend over 300-330 uk pounds (about $570 maximum) |
RE: Kit or RTR
Everyone knows what im gonna say..hyper 7 PBS rtr. All you would need is a better radio (Jr XS3 or Futaba 3pk) and better steering servo. The stock one on the throttle is decent for that function, but I would replace that one with a torquier faster one down the line.
If your a beginner you dont wanna mess around with a kit. |
RE: Kit or RTR
why not try a hyper 7 pbs...its fast, a lot of people have them so youll be able to get help if you need, and its in your price range. In m opiinin its better than the inferno RTR...but if you trawl ebay and look for deals you could get a lot better....a friend of mine bought a kanai 2 with WS7 for $550...incuding shipping from ebay...like he says, you dont really want to mess around with a kit, but a kit shouldnt be a problem...i had my first kit when i was 6...my first nitro kit when i was 13 and built em all myself so its not really a problem...and it lets you know how it goes together so you service it while racing pretty easily...but if you put it together wrong youre in a world of trouble

RE: Kit or RTR
so how easy are kits. because i'm now thinking of the inferno in a kit form because, it looks like a much better everything really, and comes 75% complete. plus, the idea of building a kit sounds like an interesting project. im good with building things like that. Are there detailed instructions on how to build it?
|
RE: Kit or RTR
oh yeh, how does the hyper 7 compare to the inferno performance and speed wise. the inferno is a cheaper option which is an advantage, as the $500 is a maximum really, as in only if theres sumthing superly fantastic for that price.
|
RE: Kit or RTR
Are you talking about the inferno sports? I dont see why you dont spend $399 or less now plus shipping on a Hyper 7 PBS RTR and just break it in and start driving an hour or two later?
|
RE: Kit or RTR
Silly, I hate to disappoint you but the infernos that I have didn't come 75% complete. It came in more like 7500 pieces. If this is your first barbecue, I'd get one of the RTRs these guys are talking about. Do they have barbecues in England, or is it all tea and crumpets??
|
RE: Kit or RTR
He's got a point. If this is your first bbq then grab the polish sausage off the plate cooked, dont try to roll, cook, spice yer own! And eventually from breaking/losing parts often( very often) and replacing them you will be more familiar with the idea of building your own.
LoL..BBQ analogy was awesome! ORIGINAL: fourboltmain Silly, I hate to disappoint you but the infernos that I have didn't come 75% complete. It came in more like 7500 pieces. RE: Kit or RTR
Now i think about it, the rtr does seem like a better option, but what would any1 say was better? the inferno sports rtr or the Hyper 7? also, which is better value for money?
|
RE: Kit or RTR
so which of the hyper 7's on this page would be best?
[link]http://shopping.rcmodel.com.hk/index.php?cPath=1_17_80[/link] One's the pbs and the others a pro version. but i think the pro version's a kit. Is the PBS better than the original then? |
