Better, lighter, nicer to look at, easier to strip, cheaper parts, quicker to tweak. What else do you need?

RE: who has ??

my concern has been the Xb8's durability compared to the 777. With the short time it's has been out, what's been your experience durability wise?

I've got an Xray XB8 as well. I'm having a hard time finding a set up for it, but it seems to be pretty solid. Haven't raced it yet however- don't trust is yet until its dialed.

is it really worth it to add it to my collection , plus is it worth it to add it to the store as well at the moment im dealing with ofna and gs buggys

Da Smak 09-28-2004 01:16 AM

RE: who has ??

Yes it's worth it. The durability is far better than any other I've owned and Though it has teething probs (Flywheel and Shocks), there is no major concerns about it. IMVBO the best on the market today.

RE: who has ??

Got both (777 and XB8) in the garage at one point... XB8 stayed.

777 just didn't do it for me compared to the XB8.. parts are nicer (and stronger) quality, fewer in count, easier to dial-in and wears out slower.

Since we got the first batches, we did get teething problems, but I'm sure once the shipment from RC America comes in, you guys in North America should get the kits pat down perfect.

Things to look out for:

- DON'T bother to install the small o-rings that go into the bevel gears in the diffs. Most MBX5 owners also don't put them in.
- The best diff oil setup for US Tracks seem to be 5K/7K/1K without o-rings.
- The XB8 REQUIRES droop screws properly set or else you'll break shock pistons or get binding on the rear outdrives. USE THEM!
- When installing the shock boots on the rear shocks. Make sure they have enough travel at full extention so they won't RIP apart.
- The body shell holes for both the mounting and engine hole are NOT accurate. Put the shell on the buggy first before making holes.
- Start off with 1.0 clutch springs (not .9).
- Put a dab of super glue on the rear of the flywheel where the pins go through.
- Engine alignment is more critical on the XB8 than other buggies, best to remove the fuel tank when doing this.
- Even when you're still building, cycle the included RX battery to make sure you don't get a DUD.
- DON'T use the included muffler hanger. It's way too rigid and might deform your muffler. Use bicycle spokes or piano wire.

If you follow the above, I'm sure you'll avoid the problems most of us pioneer owners experienced.

BUT to be honest, even with all the problems I would've still bought it because it's really a well thought out buggy. SPRING STEEL rulez!

You cheeky mothers, It's on a par with them. I thought I told you the Hyper 7 was the best buggy (VFM) in the known universe.

RE: who has ??

You can Actually say the HYpers are on par with the XRAY's:eek::eek: That may be stretching it a bit..........

RE: who has ??

Obviously Grahama is going to have a biased opinion on this matter. No doubt, the Hypers are awesome buggys. and are extremely durable. But there fit 'n finish and quality craftsmanship don't hold a candle to Xrays excellence.

Any buggy is only as good as the thumbs controlling it:D

RE: who has ??

Q8, there is NO prepainted body for it available from Xray or any of its distributors.
If you want a prepainted body I suggest you check out e b a y and get yourself a Mugen MBX5 Body. They are the same proline crowd pleazer body.

I just read that again and thought. Bias? me never. If Sky had read the other posts on the thread he would've seen the I have said they are better than Hypers in everything but VFM.
