starter boxes
opinions on starter box please
7.2 volt dual motor ? 12 volt single motor? what do you'all use? |
RE: starter boxes
I use a 12V single motor ultimately it leads to a bigger and heavy starter box, but for now it's the best torque option.

RE: starter boxes
i used the box that came with my hyper 7pbs all of last year, but decided to order a 12 volt unit so that i know i won't have any issues in the spring. it was a $95 inusrance policy

RE: starter boxes
I've just started using a 12v after 2 years of ones powered by stick packs and wish I'd switched sooner its definately the best box I've had.

RE: starter boxes
I've got the new power racing (dont laugh) 12v one.
First day using it , its stopped working. Its as good as the swift they make. |
RE: starter boxes
12v is the only way to go...POS plastic OFNA box let me down several times.
Pullstarts are for monster trucks |
RE: starter boxes
i got the mugen box w/ 2 motors and stick paks-its very light and nice
i also have the ofna crome top its a lug but will turn any motor over w/the 1-12v motor & gell cell |

RE: starter boxes
This has been another one of the biggest misconceptions in RC. The dual 550 motors has the same torque as a single volt motor. The single volt just makes a little more RPM. You will need torque, and the 12v battery provides that with a big 7amps. Don't use the stick packs as they won't last that long. Just get yourself the gel cell, charger and enjoy yourself with many bumpstarts all day long. I use the Ofna 10th box to start my 10ths and 8th scales. It's very reliable if you use it properly.
