RE: best engine?

I race a xtm .21 v2.1($190 i think) against novarossi's, v-specs and acouple ws7II(along with other engines) and their fast but they dont pull away from me like im sitting still...im extremely pleased with my motor..I can hang right their with them on straights and through corners and all..Even off the starting gate Im useally one of the first down the stretch..same thing with my sirio .27 in my savage, all the 2.5r's and o.s.'s hang right with me!..what im getting at is IMO you dont have to buy a $300-$400-$500 motor to win races at a club level..Im not saying dont get one of those high dollor motors im just saying dont rule out the cheaper ones..unless you want to spend that much and get mad when someone can beat you with a $250 and cheaper motor..

Here's one for ya. A couple of guys bought new WS7 with tnt mods for the race this week. Previous race they had been running 19 and 20 second laps. The new motors while quite obiviously faster slowed there lap times. Both said it will take some time to get used to new found power. I have several OS engines V-Spec, VZB, RG, RZB, VZR. The one I run the most is the RG it is easy to tune and parts are cheap for it. While I dont race it much I do practice with it alot. It will take a licken and keep on ticken.

The GS21 has less than 1.5hp.

They are pretty weak motors.

Tower Hobbies. Its like 110 there, but they offer new customers a 20.00 off discount sometimes.

RE: best engine?

You can get the OS RG at Towerhobbies. That shouldn't be that difficult to find....

And it is an amazing engine. I had an even race with my RG against a Novarossi 421 today.

another good cheap engine is the SH pt2004xb you can get them for like 150..good low, mid, & high, & they hold a good tune

RE: best engine?

My track allows any engine, so if you can too? I recommend this the Sportwerks .26. It's like using a high end .21 that cost's $300 or more.
Here, this engine.

And if you use a starter box, you this back plate.

Here is the RG , I have run one all summer , there is nothing I don`t like about it unless You are racing anything other than club racing . I have over 4 gal. through it and have accidentally run it 315-320 deg. a couple of times and it still holds it`s own . I had a particularly good day at the track last week , this motor ran a 19.6 lap , TQ`s best lap of the day was 19.3 . If you are a noob racer it has enough power but not too much , if you are an experienced racer , it has enough power but not too much .

ORIGINAL: fourwheels0

ya os21rg for $110 NOTHING can touch it. we have 4 or 5 guys at our track that run them. they consitantly smoke the $300-$400 motors all day long.:D
4wheels you have lost your mind. my MAC 21 has eaten all the rgs.
eddies crono just has too much power for him.
for 159.00 you cant beat the mac.

^

This is true. However, I was only something like 8 secs behind with the RG BUT I put a bigger carb on it and had some port work done to it. :D

What about the RB Econo 3 Port. How does it compare to the RG and also the other RBs?

RE: best engine?

The OS Rg is a OK motor. For $110 it a good cheap motor that will all ways seem to run and hold a tune. It's very reliable and never seems to fail, but it's by far not the fastest.
I run mine as best as it will go and the RB sport engines still pull it. You can polish a turd, but in the end it's still a turd.

Here's mine....Soon to be the MT basher motor

RE: best engine?

j_bone how much better is that with the jp1 pipe compared to stock.

J_Bone 09-06-2005 10:27 PM

RE: best engine?

The buggy doesn't have a stock pipe. I did have a stock PCR pipe and the JP-1 is much stronger off the bottom to mid range. But it will drop off on the top. For the RG, I like the JP-2 better.

RE: best engine?

thanks for the input. i'll have to try both and see which one i like.

RE: best engine?

I know this is a "What's the best?" thread, but if you want the best, be more specific. Fastest, fastest when? Most powerful, more power when and how? If you want the best, look at what the pro's are using at the big races. You can find that stuff in every mag. If you want to go fast at the race track, practice with any engine, then upgrade. Find what your driving style desires (are you straight on, on the straightaways? Killer on the corners? A surgeon on the bumps?) Read alot, mags, forums, etc... Opinions are like A-holes, everyones got one.

How well do fantom .21s hold up? I haven't heard of anyone or news of Fantom really takin any big wins this year. I am starting to put Fantom closer to the bottom of my "next years engine" list.
