RE: Car set up tips.
2 or 3 deg toe IN at the rear, 1 or 2 deg toe OUT at the front. Newbie racers will tend to run the front pretty much parallel or even toe it in a little bit, as the toe out on the front (especially if a lot) makes the car twitchy on the straights and steer very aggressively. I say start with toe out, and get used to it as quick as you can. Throwing into the deep end technique...

RE: Car set up tips.
Thanks foxy, the car actually came out of the box with toe out on the front and toe in on the rear. Not sure how much but it looks about the same as my friend Mugen.

RE: Car set up tips.
Well today was race day. There were 9 1/8th buggies and the rusult... 1st place the the cheapest car in the field :D:D[8D]
We had 3 heats and then the final. The heats were divided into two groups. In the heats my results were 1st, DNF due to muffler coming off in a bingle with another car and 1st in the last heat. In the final all the cars were put together. My first half of the race was pretty bad but I managed to work my way up to the front. The final was close. I won by less than 1 second. The car felt very good with the changes I made, I don't think I'll change anything else for the next round. There were some pretty good cars in the field inluding a couple of Hyper 7 prospec's and a Mugen MBX-5 Prospec. At least this shows you don't need to spend mega $$ to be competative in racing. Thanks very much to everyone who gave me setup advise. :D |
RE: Car set up tips.
Very nice job. I won today too :). I haven't changed the setup on my MP777 in about 3 months. I found where I liked it and have had no reason to change it yet.
Anyone can win with any buggy in the backyard or just fun group racing (unless the competition is really tight like around here with some people... I don't think I'd be in the same positions if I still had my hyper 7 it just didn't fit me). Only when you get into the pro ranks is when the drivers can only go as fast as their buggies let them... and with how skilled all of those guys are you need everything you can get. Just never stop having fun... when you stop having fun then its time for you to quit. |
RE: Car set up tips.
grant you did a very good job however my race day did not go as planned 1st heat car stopperd on start and then a turn marshal destroyed my pull start
2nd heat got off to a great start won the holeshot was up by two laps then about halfway through my engine over haeted and was bogging and had no power still managed to finish second.3rd race got holshot engine stopped on the 3rd lap was too hot too restart main stopped on the grid screwed plug had no more after i had blew four up during the meet and became a spectator still a great day out and the meet was run well with no pressure on the drivers . |
