I got the rear diff out of mine last night, and I definitely had to take the shock tower off. Two bolts go directly through the tower and into the diff, plus the wing mount goes right through the tower.

I didn't have to take off the upper arms though, so it didn't come completely off.

klaus .... are you talking about the hyper 8 or the jammin buggy?

Thanks Klaus!!! Mine is still not here yet. Ace had a little problem but fixed it and it should be here by Wednesday.

Cool Tony, you should be pleased with it.

Mine is just sitting here staring at me. I haven't really done much with it aside from assemble the shocks and inspect everything. Waiting on funds for the mill, and my radio is on it's way. Since it's already about 80% assembled, I pretty much just plan on waiting to have everything before I do much more with it.

You did take it all apart and "re-locktite" it all??

Klaus448 03-11-2006 10:09 AM

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

No I didn't. Every single one of the screws I have pulled out, required some serious force to get them to budge. Almost to the point where you start to cringe and think your hex is gonna strip at any moment. Because of that, I'm not worried about it. Plus I don't race.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

I came to the same conclusion with mine, each and every screw that threads into metal which I have taken out has had some red threadock on it. The only ones I found which didn't have as much on as I'd like are the grub screws in the end of the CVD's which retain the pin providing drive to the 17mm hexes.

I've uploaded some pics of my Hyper8 in the gallery for anyone interested,.

wow this buggy looks sick! You think it'll be a strong basher? I want a buggy.. but i dont race! Hey Klaus, does it come with clutch shoes/springs/ and a flywheel? If not, which do you plan on using?

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

After having owned and experienced many 1/8 I can honestly say the Hyper8 looks like it will take a pounding, everything is really chunky and braced very heavily. The car comes with all the clutch, clutch springs, flywheel, bell and so on. The only things you need are an engine w/means of starting, 2 servos transmitter and receiver.

'burglar, like Ashalak said, it comes with pretty much everything. Kinda hard to see the flywheel, but it's in the bag. I think it will be a great basher. Everything on it looks beefy.

is the hyper 8 a pro kit that you assemble youre self?, or is it an allmost ready to run that is pre assembled? if it is do they fill the diffs with grease or silicone?

Klaus448 03-12-2006 03:35 AM

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

The only model of the Hyper 8 out right now is the Pro "kit" which means it needs to be assembled. However, the first several hundred models that were shipped from the factory were 80% assembled by the factory. This is normal for the very first shipment of a new model, but it will not be normal for the Pro Kit to come this way in the future. If one was to order a Hyper 8 Pro kit right now, there really would be know way of knowing for positively sure if you're getting an 80% assembled model, or not unless you ask the supplier to check. That also means the supplier would have to break the factory seal on the box.

There is an RTR model of the Hyper 8 due to be released sometime in the near future.

All current Hyper8 Pro's are coming ARTR with most of the chassis assembled for you, all you need to do is mount your engine/clutch, build your shocks up, attach the wing, install your radio and paint your bodyshell. I suspect that there will be no alterations to the way the kit comes and I do believe that it will continue to come through this way rather than being sold exclusively as a full kit. The Hyper7 Pro-UK has been sold this way since it was released, which was the last of the Hyper7 'Pro' kits to be released, the way this car has been supplied has not changed, so I see no reason why the Hyper8 would either.

hey guys,
Just got my hyper 8 and after assembly (except for the shocks), the header seems as if it will be hitting the rear arm. I(s this a problem for anyone else, because i put the wheels on without the shocks and moved it up to where it would be about bottomed out, and i am worried that it will hit, is this normal on yours or do i need to do some shaving like people had to do with their jammins??

PillowPants 03-12-2006 11:39 AM

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

I hope it stays 80%...

That's interesting Ashalak, I didn't know that about the other buggys (I'm actually new to buggys). I just heard that they won't continue to come 80% assembled after the first few shipments. I probably heard that from someone who knows less than I do :D :D

Question for you, on the rear wing mounts, where you put the locknuts inside the little window/holes on the wing... stay is it called? Is this normal for 1/8 buggies? I thought this was a bit weird. Not sure how I'd ever get the wing off unless I tried to jam something in there to keep the nut from spinning.

scale only 4 me 03-12-2006 02:09 PM

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

The wing mount is the same as on the Hyper7, if you used the right nut and don't over tighten it, it will work fine without a wrench. Use a lock nut and don't over crank it,,,

Not all buggies have the same style wing mount

Klaus448 03-12-2006 02:18 PM

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

Yeah, I kinda figured that out after the fact.... One of them didn't spin on me, but the other one did, and I had hardly applied any torque on it. It should be fine. I just thought the design was a little weird. Thanks.

Anybody know of a starter box that will work for positively sure with the Hyper 8?
