ORIGINAL: Tony LST05 ORIGINAL: Klaus448 Anybody know of a starter box that will work for positively sure with the Hyper 8? Seems like I was reading where some of the guys were having troubles getting their starter boxes to work with the new H8. It could have just been them trying to keep the same adjustments on it for two different buggies. I was thinking of getting the Ofna chrome top, so considering what you said.... it should work fine. |
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Can I just use a pullstarter when i get my Hyper8? I don't race..
|
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
I'm new to buggies 'burgler, but I don't see why not. Might just take a little extra body trimming to get enough clearance.
I have a pullstart on my Max and it works fine. I'm a little sick of it though, so I'm going to go the starter box route on this one. Did you already order yours 'burgler? |

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
You guys using hump packs or flat packs? Can i fit a hump in the reviever box??
|
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
I planned on getting a hump pack. I'm not positive if it will fit, but I would guess yes. The box is huge. I can test it tonight. I have a spare hump pack and my receiver.

ORIGINAL: Keith-OH Well how do they drive guys? I am trying to deside between a Hyper 8 and Xray buggy. There was a good post in the Ofna forum about that. I'll quote it: ORIGINAL: Hyper7 http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...e/IMG_2836.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...e/IMG_3127.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...e/IMG_3130.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...e/IMG_3132.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...e/IMG_3147.jpg I finished 5th in the B main with hyper. with my jammin which the guy didn't take any pics of i finished 8th in the A main pretty sweet the hyper was a sight everybody wanted to see. there was 180 entries, track was awsome i would just like to add, how great the car handled. with the setup i ran the car was awsome, explosive acceleration, head snapping steering. the stock pipe was ok it would be good for a track where you need a lot of top end. I put a jp1 on my rb S5, crazy take off. there was a single which you jumped on top of a table top, the table top stretched about 15 feet and had a landing ramp. only a few guys did the whole thing all day. i was amazed during the main when i decided to take it land way on the other side passing two guys. man it was crazy. if you guys want i'll take some pictures of the car with the body off to show you my brake setup. once you set it, it never loses the brake and always stays the same. i use the ball cups just like the way the engine throttle hooks up. the new jammin cr's body works great on the car chris |
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Hey Klaus, have you found a compatable starter box yet? And how do those work? do they run on batteries? What kind?

ORIGINAL: TheHamburglar Hey Klaus, have you found a compatable starter box yet? And how do those work? do they run on batteries? What kind? I was planning on going with the Ofna chrome top, like here: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...5&I=LXCUC2&P=K Of all the research that I did, I found that having a 12v motor in conjunction with a 12v battery is the way to go rather than 7.2 stick packs. Edit: I've never actually owned a starter box, but they work by spinning the flywheel of the motor via a rubber wheel that's in the starter box powered by the motor in the starter box. You push your buggy down on the box, and the rubber wheel spins the flywheel. |
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Well, I did a test fit with the receiver and hump pack in the stock tray and the results actually surpised me a little.
I was able to get the two to fit in there, but it was damn tight. The connector for the battery sticking up made it so the lid didn't snap shut all the way, and after adding servos, that will only get worse. http://www.phatserver.net/temp/Hyper8Pro/DSCN5599.JPG Battery and receiver inside with lid closed. It's kinda hard to see, but it's not actually shut all the way. http://www.phatserver.net/temp/Hyper8Pro/DSCN5595.JPG What is everyone else doing for battery packs? |
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Just ordered mine today, can't wait to see how it compares to my Jammin FTE.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
I ha dan issue getting my old Thunder Tiger box to work with the Hyper, there just weren't enough adjustments to get it right, and everything I adjusted it seemed that it was far too great. But saying this my TTR box was one of the originals, and TTR have since added more adjustment options. However, I sold the box and bought a new Mugen Pro starter box, and it fits absolutely perfect. I am very impressed with the Mugen box, and I now know why everyone raves about it so!
5-Cell 6v Hump Packs will go straight in as some of you can see, so make sure you pick up something good! |
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Yes,
the wing mounts, the knuckles, diff gears, 3-ring unis, and some others If you cross reference numbers on the parts list you'll find which parts fit both cars all the parts that start 19### are from the Hyper7 Some are running the H7 rear uprights also (not the same part numbers) ORIGINAL: ghostridar2002 Hey guys I don't know if this has been asked but will any of the hyper 8 parts change over on a hyper 7 pbs like the c hub set up shock towers anything. The brown truck just dropped mine off today I'll be digging into it later :D |

Of all the research that I did, I found that having a 12v motor in conjunction with a 12v battery is the way to go rather than 7.2 stick packs. Especialy when trying to fire up a brand new engine with a thight sleeve. The 2 motor, belt driven bump boxes are often two weak to spin race engines, especialy on two 7.2 stick packs. |
RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Just received mine this evening. I must say that I am very impressed after giving it the once over. Very, very, solid design[8D]
