It's more cost effective if you have an engine with a crank / backplate already set-up for a pull-starter or a roto-starter. Otherwise, you'll need a new crank, back-plate, one-way bearing, and a taller engine mount in most cases. You can buy a engine from a ready to run like a Mayhem for about the same price as a conversion in most cases.

I flocked up, I thought I ordered the RB Concepts World S7 II X3 engine, well, it turns out I ordered the RB C5 engine instead. Is the S7 IIX3 a better engine or is the C5 better? Suppose it doesnt much matter as long as it will work on my buggy. Oh, did I mention this is my first buggy ever? Im going to need help for sure on this. So far so good though, just got the wrong engine, unless this one is better. Thanks.

My Hyper 8 is my first 1/8 gas buggy as well. I've had several other Nitro RC's though.

My buggy is almost done. Just waiting on the motor.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

the c5 isnt as good as the ws72 but i used to have one and it was great but i fried it by running too lean i think it will make a great first engine for buggies

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

The c5 is still a very good engine. Its really best used on bigger, longer tracks where you can really open the engine up. If you are going to be running on a small or short track, you wont be able to take advantage of the top end of the c5. The ws7s have alot of good usable power all the way around. Good bottom end and a very smooth powerband.

hope the pics load. I got my hump pack and radio in without any troubles, I still dont have the servos hooked up, I still think I should have plenty of room. Just waiting on the engine and the tires I just glued them, hopen by this weekend I can get some action shot. Cant wait.

did u order a c5 or a c5bb as those are two diff engines. the bb is designed for buggies and will be a handful to control. its got that really stupid power everyone likes.
if its just the c5 put a late engaging clutch and a low end pipe to comp for the diff style powerband. mugen 1.1 clutch springs and white tephlon shoes work awsome, and a long sweeping header with an 063 pipe would help out to.

That looks good nascardad. I am realizing now that my JR receiver is quite large :D I needed a new battery pack anyway so rather than just order a typical hump pack, I had cheapbatterypacks build me a custom "L" shaped pack. So now I'm good to go too.

you'll want to change those toe/steering links to the hyper7 links
Mine poped off when I was just adjusting the toe out [:@] + I here the balls break
I switched them before I ran them

p.s. I wondered where that oval sticker went :)

Im down to hookn the servo linkages up, my enginecame in yesterday, less than 16 hour to get it, was super fast. I did end up with the C5BB engine. Hopen to get run time in on it this weekend. Its looking pretty bad ***, just hopen my box will start the thing, its super tight. I'll post pictures later today.

Use a heat gun to heat the cylender the first couple of times. After it breaks in it will be just like any other engine

Its done, need to go through everything again (for the fourth time) to make sure its ready for some racen. It sure looks like it is for sure. What little I had to put together went smooth, only missing one piece, the steering horn for the servo. No biggy, have many here and there.
Just need to finish my paint job and brak it in, I'll be ready to race.
