MicKincy .... its pretty well known all over the web that OFNA has a forums for US Based customers - you can find loads of helpful people for the hyper 8 here [if you really wanted it] http://ofna.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6 I have to very good site but I am a little worried about all the talk about chassis flex and bending. I under stand some flex is good but the way some talk on that form are saying about bending what do people here have to say? |
RE: Hyper 8 owners
Chassis are going to be bent and out of shape aftera while , no matter what car you have . Unless they come out with a titanuim chassis it`s gonna happen . If you have a rigid chassis other parts will keep breaking like on the Thunder Tiger with the tunnel chassis . It was too stiff with no give and parts were breaking all the time . Chassis need to have some flex and after a while the will go out of shape .The H8 has great torque rods and feels strong .

RE: Hyper 8 owners
Some have said they have had problems with only 2 gallons throw them. I have other nitro vehicles with 5 or more gallons of fuel run throw them and the chassis are still fine. Yes I check mine often as I race them. As I said above I know you have to have some flex.
Thanks for the input. |
RE: Hyper 8 owners
It also depends on what these people do also . If they are doing stupid jumps and/or landing on the nose or tail , it will bend the chassis fast . The H8 chassis appears to be stronger than my Mayhem and the H7 , and Jammin` I have/had . It took around 15 gallons for my mayhem`s chassis to start to bend with normal racing . My other mayhem it took 6 gallons to bend with bashing and doing 15-25 ft high jumps . Hobao has been around for a while and done their homework and sure the chassis is fine.

RE: Hyper 8 owners
Comparison to other buggies is the Hyper 8 chassis as good? I am not the best drive and I have only been racing a few months do to we finally got a local track and I do not what to have to replace a chassis all the time. I know on my Savage and MT I land too much tail or nose first and they hold up well. Is a buggy more prone to bending chassis?
Thanks |
RE: Hyper 8 owners
46U, I don't think you have to worry about the chassis bending too easy. If mine has not bent yet with the way it has been driven by some of the folks I have handed to controller to, I don't think it is going to start bending anytime soon.

RE: Hyper 8 owners
Several of the folks that posted about experiencing too much flex - for their taste- in the chassis .. I respect their assesments. They have been proven to be trustworthy individuals. I have not experienced that with the 8 ... yet.
However; that said - a quick search on ebay completed auctions shows the most expensive replacement chassis with side guards in the last 30 days was $22 + shipping .... Replace a Kyosho chassis or mugen chassis for that :-) |
RE: Hyper 8 owners
Thanks all for the input and I sill am going to get one I hope with in the next month. I noticed in the last week Hyper 8 parts on ebay are not as plentiful. I sell on the bay not RC stuff but things sure have not been selling well in about a year.

RE: Hyper 8 owners
Which of the OS.21RG fit the Hyper 8 standard shaft or the one with the pilot (P) shaft?
|
RE: Hyper 8 owners
the clutch that comes stock is for a sg[pilot] shaft.
|
RE: Hyper 8 owners
This one?
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBZ33&P=0 Or do you recommend changing the clutch? |
RE: Hyper 8 owners
Yes that one . Most buggies use that style crank . It is better than using a standard threaded crank with an adaptor .

Thanks!
