[8D]hi . nice buggy 86atrack4 what one is it just wondering . thank's . ;)
Thanks! It started out as a TQ rtr, I added alot of pro parts including the 2004 yannick upgrade, currently i'm just using the shock towers. The upgrade came with shock towers, a milled chassis, alumunim center dog bones and shocks. I'm also using the cnc rear uprights, and the H8 front knuckels and wing mount.

I got the buggy off a friend who had it about 4 years, he didn't run it much and never raced it. He need some cash and I wanted to give 1/8 scale buggy a try, since I had just been racing monster trucks. Buggies are so much more fun to drive and faster! This is the first season that I've been racing buggy and I love it, I'm hooked!

Hey fellas,
wHat's the difference between the torsen gear center diff and the spider gear center diff?

jonnymac 07-23-2007 06:38 AM

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

A torsen diff (torque sensing) will unload power to the wheels with the most traction. For example if your front wheels lift of the floor, more power will be sent to the back wheels. This is opposed to the standard type diff where more power would be sent to the front.
Torsen diffs cannot really be tuned like normal diffs.
A spider diff is a normal style diff with more (and smaller) planetary gears inside. This makes them more robust (though the standard ones are very tough) and gives less rotating mass on the drive train.

Hey i just received a new spider diff for my Hyper 7 and new front/rear diffs. What weight oil do y'all put in your spider center diffs? 7,000? Please advise. Also, do i need to do anything special to switch it them from grease to silicon oil? Any special sealing procedures?

[8D]hi . they are very tough buggie's and do not need any up-grade's for mopst people . the ground clearance is set diff. by each person and for me i set each of my buggy's diff. so each of them have diff. ground clearance if you tell me what one you have i can tell you what my is set at . thank's . ;)

I dont have a hyper, i was just wondering how high they were and if grass would slow them down. How high can you set them without them handling bad?

Most all buggies are meant to race or run on a flatter surface, If your going to be running on grass maybe look into a truggy.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

Just wanted to say this buggy is the toughest buggy I've seen, ever. I have crashed, flipped, landed awkward, cartwheeled, and even had some sideways landings off big jumps. I think to myself, "oh no, that one did it", then I hit the gas and steering and it drives by me over and over. Jumps where other buggies limp away from if they miss by one bit are no match for this thing. It is not human, it does not feel pain! I'm sure others here have seen the same. I am very impressed. Just my two cents.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

I took my Hyper 7 out yesterday to Southside RC Track and finished breaking in my new Novarossi Rex .21 7 port turbo. It was a blast. This buggy is nice and handles great. I was having fun running around with my friend's Mugen MBX5 Prospec. There were a few other buggies out there, but i have to say that my Hyper performed great. That engine is a complete sexy power horse. Go Hyper 7!!http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l5...27/Bowdown.gif

Plus...I have to say that i have a new favorite Servo. The Ace R/C 1015 is a smooth, fast, strong and quiet servo. Plus i save about $15 off of what i pay for the Futaba S9351. It's fast enough to be used for throttle (.10sec) and strong enough to be used for steering (200 oz/in).

Thought I would bring this thread back to the top as I have noticed lots of Hyper 7 related posts...good to see the 7 is still doing well!
Mine has new skin for the '08 season so I'll get some showoff pics as soon as I can!

hey guys i currently have a xt2 and im wonderin about the hyper 7 tq sport wats the diffrence from the reguler hyper 7?

jonnymac 01-30-2008 03:29 PM

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

It is the regular hyper 7. It was just named the TQ after yannick TQ'd at the worlds with one.
Other versions are the pro, PCR and PBS.
The pro is a hopped up TQ and the PCR and PBS use a different suspension set up.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

im new to hyper 7 ...

wanted a project to do & got a hyper 7 pro from ebay
few qustions for you all

1-how long has hyper 7 pro been around
2-when did hyper 8 first come out
3-are hyper7 pro interchangable with newer ofna buggies??

jonnymac 02-10-2008 07:36 PM

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

The hyper 7 in various incarnations has been around a very long time in buggy standards 5+ years I think.
The hyper 8 came out about a year and a half ago. Now surpassed by the Hyper 8.5.
Beware by thinking all OFNA buggies are made by OFNA, they are not. The hypers are made by hobao and the others by Hong nor.
Knuckles, diffs and a few other minor parts are interchangeable between the hyper 7 and 8 (8.5). You will find the hyper 7 pro has pretty much same standard of these interchangeable parts. It may be old but the fact its been around so long and still sells by the shipload proves how good it originally was.
It not the greatest now but its still a very worthy performer.
Hope this helps

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

thanks for the good info & advice

how about .....
-what kind of upgrades other than radio, motor, pipe would you suggest ???????
-is ofna 1/8 buggy rims standard in mounting (older vs newer rims)

jonnymac 02-13-2008 07:05 PM

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

Depending which hyper pro you've got really (there were a few versions), you shouldn't need any upgrades.
The pro models have pretty much avery upgrade you need. If its got a cnc chassis and shock towers then you should be ok.
Most 1/8 rims should fit, however there are a few exceptions. Go with Hobao rims as thats who makes the buggy or decent aftermarket stuff like proline.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD
