RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

JConcepts has an Illuzion body for the 7, and Pro-Line has a Crowd Pleazer for the 7 as well. I *think* the Hyper 8 body will fit, and just looking at the Jammin X1-CR it looks like it might as well. I would imagine that just about any buggy body could be trimmed to fit as long as it will fit over the mudguards.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

Hey guys,I just got a hyper 7 tq sport 2 days ago and I must say im not impressed. Now before you all think im attempting to bash the buggy just let me explain and i also have a couple questions. So the break in process went ok then i took it to the track for the first time today and heres a list a problems that i had in 15 mins at the track.

1)Broken steering knuckle
2)pull start got caught in back tire somehow and got shredded
3)Silicone maifold seal on exhaust got burnt and mended to exhaust(came factory shipped with a loose manifold)
4)Steering servo plastic gears grinded to crumbs

Now before the assumptions start that im new to the sport and dont know how to run a car (let alone control the thing) I have been doing this for 12 years consistently.I have:
Nitro Evader St
Associated RC10GT2
Losi 8ight
T-Maxx

Ive never quite experienced such quick problems.Anyone else had similar problems?Next question.Im going to spend around $300 on hop ups. What hop ups should I start with?Lastly.Believe it or not the fastest car i own is the cheapest (nitro evader st).So question is,why doesnt this Macstar .28 compete with a little CV-XR .18??Whoulda thought that??

First lets start with the speed comparison. You havnt even gotten the engine fully broke in yet and you are comparing apples to oranges. The power to weight ratio of a two wheel drive 10th scale and an .18 engine is not in the ball park and 40 mph is all should expect from an eigth scale 9lb buggy with very low gearing. Most .21's are faster in buggies. Why they put .28's and pull starts in buggys is beyond me. Now the pull start. You have to make sure the pull start fully retracts after starting the car. It can easily get stuck on the body and if you flip it onto its lid and back onto it's wheels, the handle can get drug out far enough to get tangled around the rear end. As for the knuckles in front, they are cast and every once in a while you get a bad one, that is with all brands. Now buggies take the most pounding of rc off road. They need to be properly prepared. RTR need special care. You should never rely on the build process from a little girl from some far away land to build your car like she was going to drive it. Check your servo saver, change the diff grease to fluid, lock tight all your drive cups and forget about the servos that comes with these cars. If your servo saver is loose enough you can get a couple runs from them at best. Upgrade it and it will steer better as well as last much longer.

You make some really good points although,as a force of habit I always secure the pull cord. Now about what you as far as the .21's being typically faster. Please help me here.Im looking to get alot of speed!!What engine? What pipe? What can i do with this heavy 4wd to get the most speed.I handle these speedsters really well so i dont think im getting over my head.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

For the engine, that depends on how much you wish to spend?
Low budget: Hyper 8 port, SH .21 (sportwerks,LRP, Nosram etc), STS .21.
Medium budget: Axe rossi sport, Axe rossi mamba, Go .21 (5 or 7 port)
High budget: Axe rossi cobra, O.S. V-spec, Ninja .21, and many more.
As for upgrades on the buggy, Obviously CNC knuckles and chassis braces, CVD's all round, 6V receiver pack, steering servo. Other than that just replace broken/worn stuff with the pro version.
Got to admit I have never had any problems with mine, though mine was a kit so didn't come with that engine and radio (and i built it myself with loctite ;) ).

If you use that engine with an M32 pipe from TSAI and kick up to a 15 or 16 tooth bell, I can say that you will have more speed than you can handle if you broke it in with a nice heat cycle and a couple rich tanks on the track. The pull start can still unwind slightly on any engine and with a buggy, there is no room or leeway. If it releases just alittle at the wrong time, like landing a jump, it's done. I would get the 333 oz. inch Hitec servo and the pipe. I have not seen any other breakage on the stock knuckles so cnc is up to your budget. Good luck and check some other threads for set up and the servo mod. Run your servo in the stand up position and if you turn the servo saver around to the out side and use a longer servo horn you can get more steering. Good luck with it and just to let you know, one of my race buddies runs the H7 and he gives every high zoot buggy a run for their money with the servo long arm and home made shock towers I made him from G10 fiberglass. He runs Jammin big bore shocks cause they are easier to adjust for him instead of shock clips and that is all he has changed. The stock shocks are fine but you should drill the rear shock piston with a 1/16 inch. bit in one hole and that will allow the car to fly flatter and not get kicked up in the rear on sharp bumps.

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice. Now,a couple questions real quick.I like that Axe Rossi sport alot!!Is this a quality engine?Does anyone have that in the Hyper 7 tq sport? How fast is it?Faster than that crap .28 Macstar?I would assume. Also,Does anyone else have the hitec HS-645MG?How do they like it as they're steering servo?

I have had that servo for about 3 months. So far it is ten times better then stock. I am just bashing around, and it is perfect for me.

I have the rossi mamba. If the sport is anything like that its a great engine. Check how much a mamba is though because I got a new one for $200. You will find they have very very good bottom end, and it'll still be considerably faster than the macstar. As for quality rossi make some of the best italian racing engines. Be prepared for a long break in though.
Sorry don't have the Hitec servo so can't answer that one.

Would anyone know if the Hyper 7's center diff would fit an Ofna 9.5/Ravager. I tried fitting the Hyper 7's stock knucles on a 9.5 and it fits perfectly.

Has anyone really bashed one these I'm looking for a first Nitro and I need to know if it would hold up to about 5-10 foot jumps with good and BAD landings.

I do 15ft jumps everytime out with mine. You will break something eventually but not a lot. The last thing i remember damaging was a bent shocktower. Having trouble thinking of anything else, though I'm sure if you buy RTR the servos will go.

Just to bump this up, I just picked up a Hyper 7 PBS off fleebay for a good deal.

Now to upgrade the servos. It came with a XR3 FM radio as well. $185 buy it now. I don't think I did too bad. I have had a few 1/8th scales in the past, some spending a ton of coin for. The last Hyper 7 I had wasn't any worse then those, I acutally prefered it. Including a Mugen and a Losi 8ight. Never had one with the PBS though. I think I will like it.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

Does anyone know where I can find a servo tray post kit for the laydown tray in the US? I called Nitrohouse and they couldn't even translate the HoBao part number into an OFNA part number, so even if they DO have it they can't find it. The HoBao part number is 87360, "Hobao M7 tray post (laydown)". Here's a link to the one place I have found that carries it, but is in Australia and doesn't accept PayPal http://www.*********.com.au/store/pr...0725a93207c2a2

Any help appreciated!

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

I'm doing a PBS conversion on my Hyper 7 TQ Kit. I followed all the directions that came with my conversion package. It said that there should be 2 threads showing on the lower arms in the rear when you screw in the pillow balls if you are using the hyper rims which I am but if not you should cut 3mm off the ball stud if using other types of rims. I am doing the rear conversion at the moment and with everything mounted looking from behind, the rims tilt in at the top a bunch like this--> /---\ and the rear dogbones are about to fall out. Are the TQ and PBS top rear arms and dogbones the same length?? I can screw the pillow balls in further and it fixes the problem, should I cut some off the studs to allow it to screw in the arm without bottoming out?? How much toe in/out should there be on the front/rear?? camber front/rear?? what should the width of the rear and front be when measuring from the outside edge of the rim to the other?? Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance for your help.. I know its probably something simple thats why I'm asking before I screw something up...

Can anyone with the Hyper7 PBS maybe shoot me some pics of the rear top and bottom with the rims off so I can get an idea if I'm doing my PBS convewrsion right???? I'm having trouble and no one else around here knows anything about it.

I have a question for you guys, I was wondering if a hyper 7 tq rtr would be a good buggy for bashing/ some racing eventually. I plan to so some substantial modifications after i get it, but not right away. I am trying to compare this to the PBS version and the ravager/ WHAT SHOULD I GET? thanks

Here's my Hyper 7.28.these are the most popular RTR buggy in the UK from the amount that members of the MSUK forum own.Parts are abuntent on ebay aswell as hop ups so thats why they're so popular I think. The engine is the standard Macstar.28 6 Port..

All i've done is add,Tower Pro MG995 Steering servo,Futaba throtle/brake servo,Venom 1200mah RX pack,Mirage Failsafe and purple springs.I recently sold it and got a HBX VRX-2 Pro,I missed it straight away but wanted a change.....;)
