slow xt2?
hello, about a month ago i bought an xtm xt2, its my first ever rc car, and to say i dont know a great deal about them would be an understatement. i went through the whole break in process and had quite a lot teething problems with i think are sorted now. the trouble is, i dont think it goes anywhere near as fast as it should. i had bit of a race with a friend of mine, who has a nitro which is supposed to have a max speed of 30mph and he won, albeit, not by much.but according to the review by this site the xt2 was clocked at 44 mph. ive also seen videos on the internet where they seem to go faster than mine. i know mine is probably not tuned perfectly, but i also know that tuning it is not going to get an extra 50% speed out of it.

RE: slow xt2?
My friends XT2 goes like a scalded cat. That XTM 24.7 engine is quite fast and scores well on the dyno, what fuel are you using?? My friend is running Byron 33%. maybe you could lean it out some more
Here`s the dyno results, just compare, the XTM 24.7 is quite powerful: http://www.rc411.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2202 |

RE: slow xt2?
i've been using model techics 20%. it doesnt sound particularly rough, but i dont know anyone else who has a 1/8 model, so ive nothing else to compare it to. there is somesmoke at high revs but its not excessive.

RE: slow xt2?
This isn't the best advice but it works well for noobs.
Buy a temp gauge and tune to about 260 degrees. Everyone here will tell you not to tune to temperature (including me), but for people new to engine tuning its a useful aide. You will soon learn what 'sounds' right and how much smoke you want and then you can put you temp gauge in your pit box until you need to break in a new engine. |

well i dont think i need to worry about tuning it for now, think i have bigger issues to sort first. just been out in a parking lot with it. it was just starting to get dark and i failed to see a curb! FULL PELT HEAD ON INTO IT!!!! i thinks its dead!i found a two little metal rods by the crash site, which i think used to be 1 long rod, i've no idea where it has come from. i ll post a pic, im sure someone will know what it was. think this could just be the start of my problems though. the controls are just dead, nothing responds to the controls. i havent had chance to have a good look at the extent of the damage yet, i ll have to wait for some daylight, but ive got a horrible feeling it could be a write-off

RE: slow xt2?
You have snapped a dogbone, most probably the drive to one of your wheels. You should be able to buy a new one no problem.
As for the loss of control take some pics, but you may have puklled a wire from the electrics with the impact. |
RE: slow xt2?
If you have a club/track nearby, head to race meeting and get to know a few of the guys there, I'm sure, like most in this hobby, they will help and offer advice to get you going. The RC community is great, I'm sure the same the world over

RE: slow xt2?
darn thats a nasty hit to snap a dogbone in half! im willing to bet the chasis is tweaked as well

RE: slow xt2?
right ,i just had a good look at it and the only word i think i could use to describe it would probably get me banned from the website. firstly theres the snapped dogbone thing that i photoed yesterday, which i feel is the least of my problems. the battery holders shattered, hence the loss of controls. the chassis is shaped like the bottom of a rocking chair and the engine is completly jammed. im thinking its not gonna be worth repairing
