RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

Servo mixing is used more on big cars and alot on planes and helis. It allows a single input (like your throttle on you radio) to control the operation of two or more servos, like on 1/5 scale onroads that use a seperate servo for each front and rear brakes. Not really needed on 1/8th scale racers...unless you are gonna rig up some james bond type stuff lol...

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

thanks for clearing that up for me.:D i see alot of people using the 3pks for racing so i think i'll put it on my rc8

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

That's a $400 radio and you still need servos for another $150. Good stuff for sure.

OH BOY if i get this car running by 2010 i'll be lucky

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

There are cheaper options. Futaba 3PM with FASST is below $200.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

nah i wanna race someday and not waste so much money on something im going to throw away later on, so i'll just get the 3pks. i think i might get ace digital servos cause they have the most tourqe so far and they are cheaper than the associated ones.

SManMTB 12-19-2007 04:20 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

No need to throw it away. I raced with a JR XS3 for 3 years. Who told you a 3PM can't be raced with?

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

nobody...i just want to have something that makes me look like i know what i'm doing cuz i dont see a lot of people racing with magnums...

That makes no sense LOL. Good luck.

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

yeah i just drank some coke and i had to pee really bad... sorry. i just see a lot of people with the 3pks at tracks and almost nobody with the 3pm or what ever its called. i don't want funny looks. it doesnt make much sense but im trying to say that i see the 3pks alot more. that probably doesnt make sense either but oh well.

look at my signature and all will be ok. (if that makes sense......................................or if any of this makes sense)

Who cares what it looks like?? I have raced with my 3pm fasst for 2 seasons and I'm the only one at the track that runs one. For $180 bucks it is a radio you wont grow out of anytime soon. It has options that I done even use!! This is the best digital radio in its class...and a superb radio for club level racing...

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

Yeah, the only thing anyone is going to notice is how you drive and no radio in the world will make you a better driver.
Having all the top of the line stuff and drive like crap isn't going to 'look good' either. I'd love to whip everyones butt with a RD Logics SHO and some cheap chinese no-name engine and a stone age 27MHz system. It's just that I have some spare moola and like to indulge myself. :)

I didn't use any features except the basic EPA and trim adjustments on my XS3 and going with a 3PK is most likely overkill in those terms. I could have gotten the 3PM and be perfectly fine with that but it is after all Christmas time and I though I deserved it as a gift from myself. LOL

Besides this. Just get the car and decent equipment, hit the dirt and have fun. That's all that matters. :):)

Oh, and by 2010 all your stuff is going to be outdated anyway. ;)

I maybe mistaking but wasn't the Fasst 3PM released like 9 months ago?

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

i'm just going to get the 3pks and get practicing so i won't drive like crap. i think i'll be an ok driver since i've already gone to one of my local tracks and driven my 1:10. and i'm good with the 1:10. not the best though.

gokartingbob455 12-20-2007 05:14 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

oh yeah and when i hold my radio i hold it sideways. the 3pks's screen is on the side so i can see the screen without having to move my wrists while trying to drive

911 12-20-2007 11:10 PM

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

The screen is in the back on the 3 Pks...

RE: THE ASSOCIATED RC8 THREAD!

ummmmm. ok.....good for you. i didnt know that they had them on the back. i just went to the hobby shop earlier with my friend james (were both 8th graders). i think i got him hooked on rc cars. go me!:D one of the guys that worked there let me open the rc8 box and look inside. AE really did well on designing it. i did over hear that most of the guys that race together at the shop are switching from their 8ights to rc8s. i think my friend might buy an 8ight in like a year though. one of the workers is a heli whiz and he took one of the new models for a spin in side the cramped shop. he went all over the place and he landed it on my head. it was kind of freaky.

the rc8 looks awesome from what i can tell and i got someone hooked on rc:D.

You are not mistaken...I ran the standard 3pm until the digi came out then I ran it this last season...

How does the RC8 RS RTR compare to the regular RC8. I see it has aluminum shock towers so no worries of broken carbon fiber. Obviously the .28 engine voids it for competition. I just want a high quality 1/8 buggy that is easily upgraded, fast and tough.
Nobody really addressed this question, and I'm kind of interested to hear the answer myself. Just from glancing at photos and the specs, it doesn't look like much changed: the shock towers, the radio plate, the shock bodies, the included radio, and an MGT 4.6 rebadged engine. What else is different? I'm looking into getting a buggy, and this looks like what I want. My local track allows .28 RTR engines, so that's not an issue, and I can part out the radio gear......any thoughts?
