Looking good, but why gecoat for the surface of the plug? Lacquer or enamel (activated) would have been less work. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this project. I myself was going to build an airboat mold after the mono and cat molds were finished, but my other job suddenly got way too busy for me (Disc Jockey) and a second kid came along.

because my buddys worry that theenamelcould wrinkle when we make mold. we build real airboats and sometimes the gelcoat does. going to make the mold thick and it will produce alot of heat. so there will be no flex or distortion of the mold or hull when there are made. getting ready to cut a plug for the smaller nitro powered stephull on the cnc out of blue foam and make a mold off of it.Will probably spary two part expoy. not wanting to sand on it at all. or clear it . going to do a test piece

With all the wayers of wax you'll have to use, I seriously doubt it would wrinkle. A 2 part enamel dries very hard and is what I use as a final layer over a plug....lays flat and requires minimal wet sanding/polishing. Of course gelcoat sanded and polished is very hard and will never wrinkle.

Looks like it runs real good Terry...awesome job!! I like the new deck...I would prob drill some holes in the back and silicon some type of tubing in the holes to drain the water off the deck so the prop doesnt have to bail alot of water.... Its a great looking and running boat!! I believe the Fire Boat may be able to hang with ya

I plan on leave a splash tail on the next hull. we will see if u can catch me to put the fire out going to do some tuning on the boat tomorrow and see if i can get it to run better . lokks like it is pushing over on the nose to much.
