RE: carb question
On water....no.
If you do a lot of running on land, it will help keep dirt and dust from getting sucked into the carb, not to mention small stones, sticks and occasional small animal
Those made for nitro cars are going to be too big and get in the way of the prop.
BRULINE----has some available. They are a simple rubber boot that slips over the card intake and has a fine foam filter imbedded in it. When they get real dirty, throw it away and install a new one. They sell for about $3.50 each.
But to use one of these, the carb has to have some sort of neck at the top/intake of the carb. Not all makes have this neck.
Part no.102 is a coarse foam filter, #202 is a fine foam filter. Check with your lhs to see if he can get them.
Type in Bruline into your search box, quite a few palces to get them will poop up.

RE: carb question
Hi!
How about a small piece of panty hose held down with an O-ring, or small rubber band? I've seen guys do that and it worked and it can not get any cheaper

RE: carb question
That would work OK for the bigger chunks, but for fine dust, nothing beats a foam filter, especially if it is oiled. Fine dust can do as much if not more damage than bigger stuff. It 's like adding rough polishing compound to your fuel mix.
Also, you are more likely to encounter dust than anything else, even on clean looking pavement.
The cell structure of foam and the thickness of the foam is bigger protection than a thin, open layer of pantyhose, which is very pourous.

RE: carb question
Check out the thread started by dadaddyro called 'Another one of mine'
Enlarge the pic he has there. That is a Bruline filter on the carb.[8D]
