i got this cox .049 just sitting around, thinking of airboat,,needs opinion to any airboaters out there..is it possible? bout power?....thanks

A friend of mine built one years ago and now his sons play with it. He used the Dumas kit for his, it is kind of slow but good enough for the kids to get started with. If you used the smaller radio gear made today, the cut in weight will help it along.
I don't know how it will go in snow but does OK on the water for what it is.

Is the cox a reed valve or throttled version? I think it is doable agreeing with the above that low weight is key.

http://image.rcuniverse.com/gallery/...humb-33411.jpg is an electric using EDFs, but there was someone else who used the same styrofoam glider body, powered by two .049s. For mine, the whole thing weighs about 1.25lb, incl battery. If not this glider, then maybe some other lifting body type(space shuttle???) will give an easy airboat body. Also might want to think about styrofoam meat trays. Just a thought or two. Sean
