Slight "V"hull test day. VIDEO
I'ts only taken about 8 months to build and test my boat, Better late than never.[link]http://media.putfile.com/Model-airboat-test-day[/link]
I had a lot of fun trying to control it .
I would like to thank the designer, I'm not sure who he is , but I got the plans from Cajun Gator Airboat Forum.Airboat plans for a 24" simple. As I only got part of the plans I just made up what deck area looked like and put a slight "V" in the hull.I hope the designer does not mind the changes.Any way I'ts lots of fun to drive.

RE: Slight "V"hull test day
Coolest airboat video I've seen. That is a wild ride but I think thats half the fun with a boat like that. Good job!
I've still got you beat. My boat took me over a year from start to finish. (but that was with a dislocated hand and a shattered wrist). 12 screws and a titanium plate later finished my boat.
...but yes, better late than never. Again, cool video. Loved the slo-mo flip!

Great vids M8!
Love the boat! I am totally jealous of your running site. I wish I had water like that.
Is that a positive AOA on the engine mount?? If so, and the CG is forward of the prop, reversing the AOA might keep her stuck to the water a little better. Just a thought.
Again, I am totally jealous of your running site (and the boat that gets to run on it!) I demand more vids for my voyeristic tendancies (if I can't have it, I'd love to watch someone else tear it up!)LOL
Keep up the great work!
PS don't feel bad, my first boat took several years to develop!

RE: Slight "V"hull test day
Sorry,
AOA=angle of attack, the angle up or down of the engine, compared to the boat
CG = Center of Gravity (can be different than balance point)
Again sorry, so much typing, most of us use many abbriviations. Speaking of which, Ferry Man is a lot to type, shall I call you 'Charon' instead? I supposed we should call your splash zone 'Styx' while we are at it. I'll pass on the ride, I just want to watch you run. LOL
bummer you are so far from the water; you have my sympathies. I have just found out that there is nowhere in my own county that is legal to run my (gas/nitro) boats. some places are ok with electrics. the nearest places are in Los Angeles Co. (you've heard of L.A. Traffic?) although it is not far, as the crow flies, it takes a while, and with headaches. Going to the Ocean is not really an option, (although only 20 min drive) I get either crashing waves, or any lagoons/marshes have been fenced off as a 'wildlife preserve' (shhhhh - we musn't scare the birds). whatta PIA.
Sean
PS Oops, sorry...PIA= Pain Inthe Arse. (as if you've never had one of those!!) LOL

RE: Slight "V"hull test day
You got me again , what is LOL .
AOA I would say I'ts about 10 degrees , I have propt up the engine with two 3mm nuts.
and CG is forward of the prop.
As for my user name ferryman I am stuck with it until this site lets me change it.Hey I might even use Splash Zone or just Splash.
PS . Sometimes those GREENIES can be PIA ,trying to drag racing birds can be fun.

Nice job on the build!
From watching the video, I can tell someone was having some fun!
I think if you moved the balance point a bit forward, that will help it stick a bit better to the water. How about a pic of the bottom?
Once again, thanks for sharing...we'll be awaiting more.

Awesome vid! It also looks like you were getting more comfortable with your control of the boat as the video went on as well. Nice job!

Hmmmm.. If I remember correctly, Greenies=The Man (govt) Yes? then definately PIA.
I used the 3mm nut trick too, but on a prop forward design. Honestly , I would try reversing the AOA, see what happens. If not, try Chris' idea, add weight forward. keep on Ferrying!!!

RE: Slight "V"hull test day
Thanks for your input Sean, I have all ready tried adding weight to the front , It did work
but turning is affected. I thought that I would try adding a trim tab. First I will try reversing the AOA and see what happens.

Yes , its the angle of attack ... remember to ONLY move a few degrees ... ( 2 degree change of angle is a LOT and has MAJOR effects )
Great vid ... and hey ...
WATCH THAT BRIDGE
Nice build - nice design .... ( gottsta LOVE those vids )
