jet airboat
i wuz wondering if u can put an electric jet engine on a airboat.im looking at one right now that costs about 375.00$ it has 19 pnds of thrust
.i have thought about the problem of it flipping and am going to mount it closer to the front and will put a spoiler type thing on it .it will trave i think may be 60 or higher , leaves something to youre imagination doesnt it?electric air power rules!!!! this is an engine that on a plane can go 250mph.

Be patient. http://www.shredair.com/
First they are expensive.
Second they are some of the best looking ducted fans that I have ever seen.
If you can afford this set up then you can also afford to dunk it in the pond. If you are worried about damage think about this. A nitro motor at running temp is 200 +/- and flips in 40 +/- water equals metal contraction. With tight tolerances, this may be detrimental to a engine.
Buy it....build it...and have fun!

RE: jet airboat
yea, kinda pricy. Very nice, though.
http://www.kress-jets.com/ is a little cheaper. If memory serves, the 90mm is about 3.5 inches, the 120mm should be equivelent to about 4.25 inches. Might save a few bucks, if nothing else than on shipping.

Ya know ... theres an old saying that I grew up hearing
"if ya gotta ask how much it is , then its too expensive "
Well , I ALREADY know this setup is out of my ball park .. ( and notice that there is no prices mentioned in the above webpage ? )
but ... for those of us that have shallow pockets , how much would a setup like that run/cost ?
( Heck , when I first read the post , I thought someone was gonna use a JETT engine , not a jet engine . )

RE: jet airboat
i am going to use one. i have to sell some stuff first.and for a cheaper one . i sugest a gas one. the are about 100.00$cheaper. but this progect is about 7 months away cause i am working on finishing my hydro foam first. and i admit im cheap .u know how much i spent on my airboat?5.00$and that was for glue. i find all my supplies from construction sites and neibors who get rid of junk .and dont worry i will finish my goal 4 60+mph. and i will post it .and here is another saying .its not over until the fat lady sings!!!

yeah, i thought about that. ether im gonna build an electric enging , gas turbine, or pulse jet.just matters on how much moolah $$$ i can get. anyone want to buy a rare g&s skateboard from 1970? starting price on ebay will be 150.00$ remember stacy peralta was on this team at that time. it is a series 300.very rare now . has kryptonic wheels and rover bearings and cell block risers and gull wing trucks . its a treasure.

RE: jet airboat
i already have radio, servo, receaver, battery, and body made and ready.most my electronics are from broken or used cars, boats, planes, helis, etc. goodwill is good place to start.and i made the skateboard 150.00$because it will probly go up 200.00$ or 100.00$ cause right now i have about 168.00$and the skateboard is so rare.it is 43 years old.but i will have to spend the 168.00$for my hydro foam.need all the electronics for it exept an old futiba radio from my dads old gentle lady he crashed.need to see if he has the electronics from it.

RE: jet airboat
I have a Kamdax nitro ducted fan, it produces 14 oz. of thrust I believe. I got it with a mig foam jet online for only $200. I think it is a .08 nitro engine, it is pretty cool, but I don't think I would risk destroying it on water.
