Differences in Square sides/bottom vs Angled?

Not worried about top end, just having a good time. Any thoughts on adding a 1/4in strip along the middle to act as a keel? Yeah, keel & airboats shouldn't been in the same sentence, but its a thought.

Mine is currently on the drawing board for the G23 gas engine and pusher setup.

Angle sides.....definately. With straight sides the boat will have a tendancy NOT to slide in the corners. If it does go into a slide, the square edge will tend to catch the water and flip it over.

Need your opinion again.... Please remember this is for a G23 Zenoah. Here are the dimensions: 32L x 20W x 2 deep. Will this be enough to float that engine sufficently or go a little deeper to say 2.5 or even 3 inches?

keep away from square sides I have one with the sides being square it does not want to turn even put 3 rudders on still take forever to turn angled is what you want unless ypou want to go in straight lines lol

add 10" to 12" to the length and you will need 2-1/2" of free board and the radio box will need to be 3" tall for the 1/4 scale servo to fit inside correctly.

Gator, what you're saying is it'll need to be around 40 inches long? Dang, & I thought 32 was pushing it but I'll heed your advice. 2.5 - 3 inches tall it is. Just wish there was time after work to play in the shop. Dang these twelve hour days x 5.

yes around 38"-40" long.

i made a 25cc gasser that was 30" x 15" and that was a total failure!!!

angeled sides or turn chines are a MUST.

yeah 20 to 22 inches is about right.
the bottom should be from 17"-19" wide.

Are you inverting the Zen ? If not , then you should go with the size of the prop , and then half more added , for a correct side to side width .
( example - say your running a 16 inch prop ... the width of the boat should be at aprox 24 inches )

Indeed, my plans are to invert the engine (spark plug down toward the deck) to lower the CG as much as possible. Now having said that, does the width still sound right? (20 - 22in)

exept for nitro's where teh ull is only 2" wider than the prop.
