Got the kit last month and finally got everything together to get started. Here's two days worth of work (in between other family activities).
I'm just amazed at how easy this thing is to put together!

I used a water based wood stain from Minwax. I did a test before hand with some scrap wood to compare bare wood with the prepped and stained wood. In my primitive test the prepped and stained wood actually had a stronger joint than the unprepped wood.
No problems so far.
