Thanks to all the RC Airboaters the MABA is growing well. Our last race/meet showed that we are some of the better sportsmen in RC competition. Our boats are getting better, speeds are higher, handling is much better and most of all our driving skills are moving up. The first MABA race meet was held in the early months of '06 with only 3 boats on the track at a time, now most races have 5 and 6 boats out there racing. heats went from 5 lap to 10 lap, also added to the events was the top driver competition, it was introduced for the first time at the 08 Winds of the Swamp race. 11 boats on the water racing 20 laps for the gold cup top driver award. The 20 lap race has to be the hardest race to finish, much less win. The winner of a 20 lap top driver race is a person that earned the gold cup. Other races that have been added into rc airboat races are rodeo races. Rodeo races are races against the clock, in either a figure "8" or "M"
Lap times have gone from 20+seconds down to low 14 second laps. Members have also grown well, from 7 or 8 members racing to 17 drivers, many more members that could not make the last race meet. Races have been hosted in Missouri, Louisiana and Florida. Looking to maybe have a race hosted in Texas next year.
Race starts have grown from holding back the boat with a start of someone yelling "GO" to count down timing equipment. Lap times have grown from hand held stop watch to infer red timing equipment that is connect to a lap top computer. Lap counting has grown from hold up fingers to digital light counters. We are looking into next to have computerized lap counting, with the use of transponders.
We have many members doing a lot of building, testing new designs of hulls, looking for the perfect airboat hull, while keeping it scale looks and size.
fact is RC Airboats are growing, and the MABA has and is playing a major role to make this sport exciting, fun and Family.

Man that sounds like a lot of fun that you are having there. I wish that I could be there.
I am trying to build interest in the club that I belong to here in Australia, but it is a slow process.
