i would like to make a 100% water free box. do you guys have any suggestions how to do this. the box i use now works good, but at the last maba race the box on my boat was under water for about 20 min and it leaked alot of water. it needs to be big enough for two 1/4 scale servos. i would like to stay away from wood boxes. pic would be nice. thanks

Here's a link to a thread from stutch who purchased a "camping box" from Walmart for radio box use. Looks like it could work.

Wood boxes will work, but you have to seal them with epoxy inside and out before installation. The thing you have to remember, unless you use pushrods and seal them with a boot, water ALWAYS has a way of getting in, usually through the control cables. Best thing to so is use a balloon around your RX and pack the voids in the box with paper towel.

I never thought of that. Thanks. I just wonder how stiff the grease gets in freezing temps.
Using the gold-n-rod packed with a marine grease will stop water from getting into the box

From the south could not say, but I would think if its that cold, the water would be frozen and the grease would not be needed. Guess it could be tested by freezing it.

picked up a watertight box made by outdoor products at walmart. i put it under a foot of water for an hour and no leaks. it wil work good for a gasser airboat. all i will need to do now is work on making a good seal for the control lines. if any one has any ideas i would like to read them. rather stay away from using grease. thanks dreamin hemi for the tip.

I'd bet these would work at the ends of the cables.

Nice to see a local here as well. Nope, AM is VERY close to me. I actually saw the Glad boxes in the grocery store the other day and thought they were a little on the flimsy side. However for an air boat I suppose it would work.
Drop me a PM sometime or an email and we'll talk shop! email: DreaminBoats @ aol. com

Those are for pushrods, I think he was wondering about the seal at the end of the control cables.
